Sigh...and if my day hasn't been stressful enough...I just now learned that one of my medics is on vacation in Turkey and trapped in her hotel in the middle of this shit storm.

I'm with ya. This whole week has just sucked and it really needs to be June already! My heart is just aching right now.

So, had a nice sleep overnight, and here's the facebook update i got this morning....

Okay. We slept to the soothing sounds of tear gas grenades after we finally got our room. Thankful the lobby glass held up! CNN has a new importance when one of the top stories features video from the riot crowd and bon fire directly in front of our hotel. BUT. We are fine...and we are going to attempt what we had planned to do yesterday-and suffice it to say we want out of the city.

The good news is that my friend made it safely out of Istanbul.

Calla and i are now safely out of Istanbul- we took a night bus to Cappiodoccia. We are now on a 6 day travel plan. 2 here- and the last 4 on a boat cruising southern turkey. Weeehoooo!
