Occupants unharmed in Oak Hill apartment fire

OAK HILL - Everyone escaped unharmed, but fire destroyed a three- story apartment house Saturday. <P> Oak Hill Fire Chief Tim Richardson said the apartment house stood on the corner of Central Avenue and School Street. He said there were six apartments inside and all of the occupants got out shortly after the fire broke out at about 4:30 p.m. <P> One firefighter received minor injuries, Richardson said. The firefighter was treated at Plateau Medical Center and released. <P> The Oak Hill Fire Department was assisted by fire departments from nearby Fayetteville and Mount Hope. The departments were able to keep the fire from spreading, and a nearby home received only minor damage, he said. <P> Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, he said. <P> A member of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department who is an arson investigator is assisting, he said. <P> Richardson said efforts to determine the cause will continue today at the fire scene. <P> © 2012 Sunday Gazette - Mail; Charleston, W.V..
