Long Transport Times?

Recommended Posts

We have an average time of waiting 35-40 minutes for a transporting agency to get to us. We are in the middle of corn and bean fields and serve a area of 60 square miles. We recently went to Ambulance assist and working our way to a transporting agency. But because of the last service that was located here we are being watched really close and have to prove ourselves. But the wait is horrible! Even if we were able to transport it would take us 35-40 minutes to get to the hospital.

We have a Level 1 trauma room about 35 minutes away. We have the advantage of Air Life which takes 15 minutes round trip to transport critical patients. They also do the long transports.

I work at a urban/rural area. We cover a multi counties, with a town of about 40K. However, there are areas that we have a transport time of greater than 40 minutes. The nearest larger. hospitals is about 35 minutes from our metro & we do several scene flights, & inner facilities transfers.

Be safe,

How about 20 min scene response time runing L/S all the way?? Platinum 10 is thrown out the window, golden hour is next to go.

As I have said before, we need more stations in the county to cut down on response time. This is a problem in many rural areas.

Sorry guys, just venting a little.

We, like the person in Mt., have a long transport time. We service about a 2500 square mile area, so it may take 45 min to a hour to just get to the call. Our closest ALS service is the bird and they are about a half hour out if they are able to fly. We have first responders that do a good job responding and helping with the Pt's.

:D Where I work you put the helo on standby before you leave the station. Your 911 calls come to the station and you answer the phone and take the call. You dispatch your volunteer firefighters before you leave the station and hope they show up. 8)
