911 versus IFT Service - Pillows ?

Recommended Posts

I did see a service that had their pillows "cabled" to the head of the stretcher. It had a gromet hole in one corner of the pillow and enough cable attached so that they could put the pillow under the head of the stretcher if they had a back-boarded patient.

Im a medic on a 911 only dept and have a pillow inside the rig for two reasons... respiratory distress and ankle fx's. Some of the hunch back geriatric patients also like having their heads supported.

Around here, the 9-1-1 services do not have pillows on-board. The hospitals all seem to be in short supply. We ask the patient at their house or facility if they would like to grab on of their pillows for comfort. Otherwise, its a short trip to the hospital. The private services seem to have them that they grab from the nursing homes usually.
