xstreetsweeperx
I was just curious as to how many of you have ran into appendicitis over the course of your time in EMS.

chbare
Not much. Pain management, fluid replacement, antiemetics if vomiting and transport to an appropriate facility. Focus on getting a good history while you are at it.
Bernhard
Not to forget proper differential diagnosis! Abdominal pain and probable appendicitis can cover a bunch of other problems...
paramedicmike
What can be done prehospital? Haven't we been through this before with you? You say you're going to be an EMS student. Perhaps it's time you started acting like one. Why don't you go look it up and then tell us what you think needs to be done. I think you'll find that you learn and retain the information better when you do that. You're not going to learn the things you need to learn if you don't do the work to learn it yourself.
ERDoc
I was just curious as to how many of you have ran into appendicitis over the course of your time in EMS. As for EMS, not sure, I didn't have any diagnostic equipment but I'm sure I had a few. In the hospital, several times per week.
Bernhard
Personally, I had one. Hurts. Now I don't expect to have more. Thankfully.
