Being a NREMT paramedic doesn't define a standard of care or protocols to keep paramedics in one state in line with another. It is simply a certification that recognizes that those who've earned it have demonstrated a minimum competency level to function at their respective provider level.

NREMT is a testing agency. That's about it. I'm always surprised that people think they should be engaged in advocacy for the profession. There should be other professional associations out there to do that for EMS. Unfortunately, this is an area in which EMS is lacking. (Yeah, yeah. The NAEMT is out there. But they're useless and don't even really count in the discussion.)
