Richard, no offense intended Brother, I truly didn't know that.

I was under the impression that all of NYC EMS was cross trained and worked both duties.

Though, of course, knowing that you're EMS specific explains the quality of your posts... :-)

A short while after the September 11 Attack, the magazine of the National Safety Council misidentified an FDNY Fire Fighter as being an FF/Paramedic. They published my "Letter to the Editor", in which I explained the difference, down to the different colored turnout gear, boot styles, and helmits, where I told them, in the FDNY, there's no such thing as an FF/Paramedic or FF/EMT.

As in my letter, I also explained that some members of FDNY are also in VFD and VAS/VAC units outside the city, where they may be cross trained personnel, but when in FDNY, of the separation of FF and EMS duties (except for Certified First Responder-Defibrillator Engine Companies).
