Hello, My name is Max and I just wanted to say thank you for taking time out of your day to read this and in the future answer any questions I might have. I am still waiting to see if I am accepted into the EMS academy here put on by the Cleveland Clinic. I have plenty of questions and no experience in any medical setting so we shall see how it goes. A brief history about me I grew up in the country and was raised on a mini farm by two amazing parents, went to school and graduated toward the top of my class, decided that college wasn't for me which is a blessing and a curse, worked as and electrician for 5 years and got bored with it then met my fiancée moved to Cleveland and worked odd jobs trying to make it ....so i decided to go with paramedic because I have always been interested in the field. I'm not really the type of guy to sit behind a desk and be content or even really work a mindless job in an office, factory, store, etc. So putting that into consideration with my interest in EMS,Firefighting and Law enforcement I figured EMS was the best option for me although I'm going into it pretty much blind. I do have some clue as far as medical terminology and such from my mother.. she was diagnosed with RA, Psoiratic Arithritis and Fibro when I was young so I picked up on a few things..also my aforementioned Fiancée was going to nursing school which changed to pharm tech after clinicals and I help her study regularly. Anyways thanks again for reading also any and all suggestions comments or just hellos are welcomed completely ..thanks again and sorry for any grammatical errors... :)

Hey Max, welcome to the City!

No worries about experience. Just jump in here, ask you questions, try and research and answer other peoples questions when you can.

Good luck getting into school...Though it's not to late to change your goal to nursing where you can make some money!!

Is it really that much of a difference in money from what im seeing its a difference but not too bad plus i think id like the fast paced days u get from time to time...more than being in a building all day everday at least.

Yeah, the difference is significant in most places, but if you're looking to be an EMT or medic then I won't tell you it's wrong of course. Only that I know very, very few medics that don't wish that they would have spent their school time on a nursing degree instead of medic. Better career options, better pay, benefits, retirement, hot chicks to work around most times...completely different.

But you will fail in either profession if you don't begin right now, today, practicing to write and present your thoughts and ideas as an adult instead of a child. Truly my friend, I know you've run across many, many threads that have stressed the importance of presentation. EMS is very documentation heavy, and you simply can not succeed if you try and write a report the way you've done above.

You need to choose to have enough self respect to force yourself to write and speak well. Presenting yourself as a professional is a skill like any other. It needs to be practiced. Start here with your posting, OK? Write your post, reread it, spell check it, reread, then post. (At which time I often find typos that I missed before and have to go in and edit them out.) Simple and it only takes a few extra minutes. Wait and see if it doesn't change many things in your life.

Good on you for having the balls/ovaries to participate! I would hate to chase you away, but this point is so vital that it just can't be ignored.

Have a great day!

Dwayne

Edited to fix the post posting typo mentioned above.

I apologize for my utter lack of care or effort put in to that last post Dwayne. I usually do take the time to edit and spell check my writing before posting. I must have been lazy that day in my response to you and I'll work on not being lazy thanks for keeping me in line. In response to your original reply I just don't see how its is possible for me to work the job I have now and go to school for nursing. Also I'm pretty set on my idea of becoming a Medic even tho it's less opportunity and so forth. I feel that it would be better for me to go through being a medic first then if I decide to move on to a different position be it Nurse,Police or FF. All in all thanks for your response and insight as I'm sure you are more aware of whats going on in the field today than I and also for the grammatical advice.
