What's in your First In Bag(s)?

Right now our first in bag contains everything - O2, trauma stuff, BLS stuff, etc. (ALS/drugs and peds are in separate bags already.) We are looking to split it into 2 bags - an O2 duffel and another bag (or 2) since the one bag weighs a ton and we don't always need EVERYTHING. What's in your O2 duffel? Do you have separate trauma/medical bags? What's in that (those)? I've got to come up with a recommendation in about 2 weeks. Thanks in advance.

In your drug bag should be all the drugs, IV caths, ET, sharps container, IO, syringes, macro/micro sets, fluids (50, 100, 250, 1000ml IV Bags, D5W (50 & 100ml), tegraderms or band-aide & papertape, alcohol & providine preps. Oxygen bag should have all the diff software, short splint or SAM, irrigation, Adjustable Collar w/ Headbed, handpowered suction, all the O2 delivery devices (Adult & Peds), & D Oxygen Tank.

I don't believe in first or second line drug bags. When you do that; you assume the bare minimum is all you need. When we all know patients are dynamic and never textbook.

We carry no preloaded drugs, if you are not competent enough to manually draw up a medicine you are not competent to be allowed to use it.

Ketamine, morphine and fentanyl and kept in a hip pouch

As a general rule, I bring the box and the monitor in with me on all medical calls. For traumas I just bring the collar and board. Fire brings in their O2 and we have a D cylinder and some masks on the cot, so I don't usually bring in our airway bag unless it's a respiratory call and we're on scene first.

We carry no preloaded drugs, if you are not competent enough to manually draw up a medicine you are not competent to be allowed to use it.

And by hip pouch, do really mean to say fanny pack? whistle.gif
