We are using this drug in Alberta, Canada. Its been available for about three months here. I don't know if anyone in my service area has had a chance to use it yet.

We are administering it in trauma events where the pt has clinical signs of shock.

I know BCAS is strongly considering following suit. Currently only flight crews are using it.

Is AHS following the cases for study purposes or is it just across the board implementation?

My guess is if it ever gets to the USA it will $90 a dose.

90 dollars a dose, if it's that effective, the cost will be 900 a dose, not 90.00 never let a pharmaceutical company's altruistic decisions get in the way of making some sort of profit.

  • 1 month later...

It's as cheap as chips in the UK and has been for years. Is it not used in certain types of surgery over in the states?

Cheap in the UK but the pharm companies in the US don't seem to have chepness on their minds. That is the reason why it won't really see the light of day on an ambulance.

We thought about putting Eminase on our trucks a long time ago, but the 3200.00 price tag made it so unappealing that they decided not to.

Any drug costing more than 300 per dose gets a hefty sideways glance when being considered at any of the services that I've ever worked for.
