mrsbull
I went to EMT class in Wa State. I WAS checked for background in that state. I was also CBI/FBI Checked here in CO. That said, I also believe that just because you have a clear background check DOES NOT mean that you are exempt from you being a sexual predator. It VERY WELL can mean someone (you OR anyone) just has not been caught is all.. All in all it is scary and it also means be on your guard, watch your partner and be an advocate if something does not seem right for your pts. Be observant be aware and for goodness sake be INTOLERANT of any odd behavior.
CBEMT
Just remember- a clean background check doesn't mean you're not a scumbag.
GhostMedic29
As a paramedic in Alabama (which as some think we are all inbred and have no teeth) the Department of Public Health Office of EMS and Trauma require mandatory background checks upon your initial licensure. The Office of EMS and Trauma also conducts background checks when an EMT or Paramedic apply for re-licensure every 2 years. The programs here are also required to complete background checks on ALL new students into EMS program. They also require students to submit to random drug tests. You know, that's something that I've always found interesting, that I need a gazillion checks each time I get a new job, or to get each level of certification, but then....that's it. It seems to be the thinking that if I was not a perverted felon when I got hired then evidently I'll never be! (So far the felon part has held true... :-) ) Weird though, right? Makes me think that this is not about keeping bad folks out at all but running checks for some other reason... Dwayne
