The guys in the back of these ambulances are making over 100k a year.

Which doesn't even BEGIN to raise a family in CA. With two incomes and two kids, my cousin and her husband had to pick and move from the West Coast to the East Coast just to afford their kids.

The reporter that got the pic of Jackson in back made enough money to buy several ambulances.

I think we are the idiots for riding in the ambulance for $10 dollars an hour (or for free, as youse guyz in NJ do it).

amen! i met a waitress at the local IHOP that made more than me hourly before tips

It's too bad he doesn't know what medical professionals can make without working almost 4000 hours.

The operative term there is professional... 120 hours followed by a 9 month certificate program does not a professional make.

Perhaps it was one of those deals where the medic and his partner got in the back, and a firefighter from that engine drove. May be certified to drive them, but that doesn't mean they do that on a regular basis. It's certainly more difficult than backing up with a car.

I'm giving them a pass on the backing. I'm sure they were pretty concerned about all the people running around out there, no matter how good they are at backing.

I was faulting the spotter not the crew. With that big a crowd, I would rely heavily on a good spotter backing me up to provide warning about idiots with cameras so I didn't run any over.
