Can anyone tell me which states do not require NREMT for registration as a Paramedic?

There are quite a few states that don't require it. NY for one, FL for another. Although you don't need it, it really does help. Many states accept it, but don't require you to have it. For example in California they will be happy if you have NR, but you still need to take their state test, same with Florida.

Thanks for the replies, I am looking for a State who will reciprocate my UK and Australian training so that I don't have to sit an expensive and time consuming NREMT process. Those who insist on NREMT have simply said no so I'm hoping the others will reciprocate and allow me to challenge the State exam. NY is a firm no, they said they will recognise out of state but not out of country training.

If you are coming from out of the country, your best bet would probably to be contacting state department of health offices.

MA is non-Registry; I can't see OEMS giving you a go to take their test however. That would require higher brain functions.

Man... if you think the NR exam is expensive or time consuming, I wonder how you could afford to even fly here in the first place.

Hi, If you go to www.nremt.org you can see which states require it and which do not. I don't know of any that take out of country education. Hope you find some. Good Luck.
