Doctor loses license in live abortion case

Sorry, but I must have miss the post that condemned abortion in the case of imminent threat to the physical health of the mother. Are you sure there was such a post? I'm about the most pious poster in the thread, and I certainly never said any such thing.

Dustdevil- When you hit pious I'll post you direct (LOL). As I read the postings so many of them were from a very uninformed, never have to worry about it place. My point was this: if in a burning building no one can really tell if they will jump from a window if it might save their life. It's situational in the end. No one really knows what they might do in any given situation. Have a healthy dae. J

Ok, before the whole blah hes a teenager don't listen to hm thing jumps in. I'd likie to throw my own wrench into this heated debate. I consider myself as having to much of a lack of life experiance to pick up a big stance on abortion. But how about stem cell research. I'm strongly for this and feel that it is a very powerful and oportunistic medical research we should continue and attempt to learn as much from as possible seeing as they already have studies showing what miracles stem cells can work.

How do you all feel about it?

do you consider that clump of undifferentiated cells a baby or human life?

That's kind of like asking if it's okay to make lampshades out of Jews if they're already dead.

How about we just stop killing them instead?

If asked about a year ago what I felt about abortion, I would have said, "It's the woman's decision..."

Now however, after having to deal with the issue and its potential outcomes, I'm much more on the pro-life side (save for the aforementioned instances of threat to mother and baby)

Last year when my wife and I found out we were pregnant, we were so scared. The thought of abortion did cross our minds at first, until the very first ultrasound. Even though my daughter was the size of a peanut, I still had that special connection that only parents have with their children. We decided not to do it.

15 weeks later, we visited our doctor who told us our daughter had ventriculomegaly, which could mean a potentially serious complication or that she could simply need a shunt to drain CSF from her brain. We went to a specialist, and he laid out on the table that it could be 3 or 4 different things:

1) She would need a shunt, in which case there may be no inherent long term problems.

2) She could have a fatal genetic disorder.

3) She could have Down Syndrome.

4) The ventricles could return to normal and she could be fine...

After saying all this, he also said we had a week to decide if we wanted to terminate the pregnancy.

It all seemed unreal, here we were again at this decision. And still we couldn't do it...seeing her in the ultrasounds, she was her own person, and she was developing a personality!! Much of what I saw her do in the ultrasound, I see her do everyday now.

We decided to keep her, even in the face of the unknown.

Now, Olivia Marie is 5 months old, and even though she does have Down Syndrome, I wouldn't have it any other way. She has absolutely no physical health problems, and is just so damn cute and funny. She recently started smiling and laughing, and that is something that I will keep with me always, and can always brighten up my day.

Looking back on all we went through, it seems like it was ages ago, and that I was a totally different person. I guess I was.

As far as the thread (didn't mean to hijack I just started typing what was on my mind) this was a very sad case, and a heinous act. If they noticed the baby was breathing, they should have attempted all measures to save her. Period.

emt322632:

that is a very touching story. I'm sorry that you and your wife had to face that kind of decision, but it sounds like you made the right one and that it was all worth it. My case is similiar to yours. I had to choose rather to keep my son or not when I found out I was pregnant. And we were given all the possible outcomes as well. And I too made the same choice you and your wife did. He is now 3.5 years old and excelling in life. My son was born 1.5 months early. Some of the scariest events in our lives are the ones that make us the strongest. Good luck to you and your family.

Self-defence. Off with his head. But abortion to spare the mother's delicate feelings is not self-defence. It's murder.

Are you not the one who just said a few posts back that this is a black and white issue and there is no middle ground? So there IS a middle ground only when it fits into your arguement?

A woman and a man both have the right to choose what happens to their own body.

How many of you have sex here just to procreate? Sex is a part of any normal and healthy relationship, but being in a relationship does not mean you and your partner are ready for the responsibility and raising a child. Does that mean you should deny your very human, and very real urges?

We all know birth control and condoms are not 100% perfect and both have a failure rate. Very slim, but a failure rate indeed.

What happens to these unwanted babies after they're born? Another baby for the adoption limbo? Or another mouth to feed when the mother is having trouble just feeding herself and ends up as another welfare baby? Doesn't matter, right? People just care about forcing the mother to carry the kid.

I'm pro-choice. I would never have an abortion, but I'm not going to deny people who don't want a baby the right to abort that baby in the early stages of gestation.

I do agree that this girl is ridiculous. She was going to abort the baby, and now she's cry

ing that it was emotional trauma? Notice how it's "Her daughter" and not "The baby she was aborting"? She has no right to money.
