Well I apologize for my incomplete entry. With school, work, family, faith, etc, I have run out of time. I hope at least some of my ideas will help some think of how we could focus what some call unnecessary courses on EMS. Thank you Ruff for another great learning experience for all of us.

Required Courses

Art 101 – Study of EMS in various forms of art. To include the influence of movies and television on the development of EMS and the affects it has on the publics view.

Lit 101 – Study of various forms of literature that have discussed EMS. Consideration of books, poems, and internet forums.

History 101 – A look back at emergency medicine through out time with a strong emphasis on the time frame beginning 1914 to present.

English 101 – Instruction on the fundamentals of writing, spelling, sentence, and paragraph structure.

EMS Forums 101 – Prepare future EMS professionals to be able to converse with other EMS professionals on the internet.

Professionalism 101 - Preparation for the work force to include ethics, interpersonal relationships, professional attire, and professional appearance.

Research 101 – Student will learn how to study properly. This will include learning why the simple answer is not enough if you are to be the best in your profession.

A & P 101 - An overview of the human body and the basic way it works.

EMT-B – A slightly advanced first aid course that will allow student to qualify to start going into the field to observe EMS professionals at work. Will include CPR and ITLS.

English 201 – An in depth study of the art of writing a proper patient care report so it is clear you are a professional. Various accepted narrative styles will be considered.

A & P 201 – Skeleton, Muscles

In depth study requiring research

A & P 301 – Nervous System

In depth study requiring research

A & P 401 – Sense Organs (ie eyes, ears, etc)

In depth study requiring research

A & P 501 – Endocrine and Immune System

In depth study requiring research

A & P 601 – Circulatory system

In depth study requiring research

A & P 701 – Digestive and Respiratory Systems

In depth study requiring research

A & P 801 – Urinary and Reproductive Systems

In depth study requiring research

Cardiology 101 – In depth study of the heart

In depth study requiring research

Cardiology 201 – EKG 3,5,12, and 15 lead. Recognition of rhythms.

Cardiology 301 – Assessments and treatments (electrical, pharmacological, etc ) of patients with cardiac emergency's.

Math 101 – Algebra

Math 201 – Calculus

Pharmacology 101 – Drug Calculations

Pharmacology 201 – In depth study of the primary drugs used by paramedics.

Pharmacology 301 – In depth study of the common drugs you will see in the field.

Grant Writing 101 – Focus will be on how to find and write successful grants.

Don't worry, the lottery is just a tax on the people who failed statistics class. :)

Something I'm sure everyone would have learned had they been forced to go through one of the programs outlined above. (Wow, such a convoluted attempt to steer this somewhat on topic...)

I don't believe that in any of the classes listed in the contest there was even a remote mention of statistics classes. But for SSM you would need the statistics class wouldn't you.
