Yeah, I agree on the hat. I bet if you look in Guinness you'll find that hat has appeared in more booking photos than any other in history.

So? What's the problem with that?

PS-Love the hat.

hello there again

I know that there would be a lot of comments from both sides volly/paid.

for the record i am a volly. and maybe i did it to see a pissing match. But I

would like to know what people think. I had a friend that said that he ever

got hurt he want a paramedic so he could get pain medication and we don't

carry. and the nearest paramedic is a hour away. and the nearest hosp. is

about 20 min by ambulance.

Now i have read all your comment and i think both have passion but some

of the comment i have to reply.

1 one said that paid devoted there lives not a hobby. And cant pick want run to take.

I stared this not as hobby. i wanted to help people who are in need. And for saying

they (paid) devoted there lives I have been doing this for 6 years and there are people

in are crew been doing this from the start of are ambulance in the 70s that over 40 years

if that not devoting there lives to i dent know what is.

And we cant pick what runs to take.

2 better then you.

no I don't think I am better then you (paid) I have a lot of respect for the paramedic or the paid EMT. I know a lot of them and i've seen them on the job helping us or we helping them on a big call. I just put out the question just to see what you would say. I was on this site years ago and i read a comment that all volly should be gone (volly) that we are not real E.M.T. and that piss me off. and I did make a long comment on that one.

fire/emt it's about time you showed up.

It took you 4 pages of responses before you bothered to respond. Yes I do believe all you did this post for was to start a pissing match and you succeeded.

Good job, your primary objective is complete.

Are you honestly trying to compare someone who goes on EMS calls when they have the time vs someone who is on an ambulance 40+ hours a week? Which one do you think gets more experience over any amount of time?

Also, what exactly is the punishment for not showing up to an EMS call at a volunteer agency? You don't get to play with the lights and sirens? Fail to show up/run calls for a paid provider and you're out of your lively hood. The simple fact is that there is nothing holding a volunteer back from deciding to only run the 'exciting' calls.
