Passing of Dr. Bill Jermyn

Recommended Posts

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death today of one of our colleagues, Dr. Bill Jermyn.

Dr. Jermyn was a long time member of ACEP and an active member of the EMS, Disaster, and Geriatric sections, as well as the EMS and Disaster Committees. He previously served as Chairperson of the EMS Section and Committee. Dr. Jermyn had worked for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services as the EMS Medical Director since 2005 and during that time was dedicated to improving the emergency-care system in the state of Missouri.

He was a national expert on emergency medicine and known to many throughout the EMS community. Dr. Jermyn's passing is an incredible loss to his friends, family, and colleagues.

What most of you probably don't know is that Dr. Jermyn was working on a project to have EMS recognized as a subspecialty of emergency medicine, for which a physician could be board certified. He was a true believer in EMS and its field practitioners.

I knew Dr. Jermyn in passing only. What a voice for EMS.

I am saddened today by his passing.

Three cheers for a true EMS and Emergency Medicine Champion.

I admire his vision, passion, and commitment to a better world for all of us. And I hope to live to see his dream come to fruition. God Bless him for planting the seed. Adios, Brother.

Sounds like he was very involved and dedicated to the medical/ health field and would have very big shoes to fill. Sorry to hear about the loss.
