No sharks? Sharks with laser beams on their head?

Haven't you heard? The sharks have been replaced...

What about aligators patrolling the coridor? just kidding.

Anyway. Here we transport about 98 percent of patients to one of 2 local hospitals. The first one Riddle, you just walk right in, no keypad needed. The other one crozer, ( the one where we go the most, and our trauma center) has a keypad (the code is not anything having to do with 911) and also a place to swipe a card, but only the crozer employees have the cards. there is also a security gaurd sitting right there, in case somebody doesnt know the code. I dont even know why they need a code, it is an ambulance only entrance, the actual entrance to the ER for patients/visitors is on the whole other side of the building, no civilians even come around to that entrance because it's out of the way.

People bent on doing bad things generally don't care if it's inconvenient.

One of the hospitals we do IFT's to has an office that faces the hospital entrance doors. The people in the office, the wonderful TEMSIS people, push a button as you walk by that opens the doors. I like this idea as it helps when carrying folders, patient belongings, etc.

Our local hospital doesn't have any key code on the ambulance entrance door. It's inside a bay, so you've got to have a garage door opener on the correct frequency to get to the door. There are cameras set there so the nurses can watch who comes and goes in that area.

The hospitals we do IFTs to have a variety of codes. I've seen the variation on 911 and just about everything else, I think.

Someone commented about the numbers being worn off on the key pads. I've seen the solution to that too. Some of the places we have for IFTs have gotten keypads that are lit from the inside with clear buttons. Everytime they're activated the numbers are in a different place. I just wish they'd put them higher than waste level. (Even with me only being 5'3", they are on the low side. I'd hate to see how the guys who are 6' deal with them.)

Please clarify that one: The ambulance entrance is actually inside a garage door and "bay", into which one backs the ambulance? Neat, great protection against inclement weather, but lousy if there is a power failure as you arrive, and the internal power hasn't kicked in yet (or, for that matter, getting back out and available...wait one...uh...)
