Tasers

Recommended Posts

If you are not comfortable carrying or using one, stop asking about them. You don't need them.

I dunno about you, but I usually feel uncomfortable with doing a LOT of stuff until I know more about it. Thats why I ask questions at least.

For Example:

As a Basic provider, I would be uncomfortable with carrying or using Morphine, especially if that discomfort disqualifies me for the privilege of asking questions about it in medic class...

I think seeking to obtain more information BEFORE you decide you are comfortable carrying and using something is ADMIRABLE to say the least...

You have to realise that a great many of the people who come talking about weapons on these forums are asking for the wrong reasons. They're not honestly and intelligently considering their options for self defence. They are just frustrated wankers who are trying to think of ways to be more like cops, because they couldn't get hired as cops themselves. Sorry if you got painted with that broad brush by others, but I certainly didn't think that.

I admit I may have missed the mention, but with so many here talking about getting a TASER, I don't recall seeing any mention of getting TRAINING for the usage of the device, including not only HOW, but WHEN to use it.

As mentioned, the LEOs (for our new members, that stands for Law Enforcement Officers) both in TV/Movie dramatizations and actual life, get attacked, and then shot with their own weapons. Presumably, these LEOs are well trained in what they do. If we start working with things like TASERs, that is yet another potential weapon that could be taken from us, and used against us.

Also, while I can understand certain hours in the middle of the night having a decrease in LEO availability, the concept of zero availability at any time is one I find truly disturbing.
