Light bulb burns for 81 years at firehouse

I read an article once, about a light bulb in a fire station in California that has been turned on since 1901. Seems like old bulbs are the way to go.. There's one in the equipment room of our station that's been working since 1956. Yet, I've replaced the seldom used bulbs in the foyer of the station, at least four times since the last election in November.

I saw this on an episode of "Mythbusters". They were trying to see if you saved money by turning the lights off and on or just leaving them on continuously. Apparently, the amount of time required to show any significant cost savings was tremendous. I can't recall the exact time frame, sorry.

Pretty kewl story just the same.
