EMS PAY

Anyone here know of any decent paying states besides this hell-hole EMS State I live in? Im sick of making 8.00 an hour, while my boss is a freeking millionaire and I'm struggling to pay my bills. I cant go to medic school because I cant afford it and I cant get anyone else. Anyone know of any decent Indiana Companys/County services hiring?

Usually, your best bet is to get out of EMS until you finish medic school. Is there a particular reason why you are unable to consider other lines of work temporarily? Try the hospitals. ER tech jobs usually pay a bit more, and have more school-friendly schedules too. Night stockers at the grocery stores around Texas pay twice as much as any EMT-B, and night shifts are ideal for students.

Think outside the box. You are the one limiting yourself.

I did your work for you:

[web:b57fc260b9]http://ivytech.edu/schools/health/paramedic-science/index.html[/web:b57fc260b9]

Available at these campuses:

[*]Gary

[*]Michigan City

[*]South Bend

[*]Fort Wayne

[*]Kokomo

[*]Terre Haute

[*]Indianapolis

[*]Columbus

[*]Evansville

[*]Bloomington

You get your AAS degree.

Ivy Tech is NOT expensive. You are looking at probably $15k TOPS if that for your 2 years and you get some foundation you might not get at a stand alone program. Your tuition would be around $7000 plus books and other expenses.

You're not trying. Anyone can afford school. It all depends on how willing you are to work for it. Don't try a sob story here. It won't blow over. If you want to make more money, further your education. It will pay for it self.

^ hehehe

If you want to make money in EMS as a basic you could come to Canada. Take your Primary Care Paramedic, make $20/hr while taking your 2 yr Advanced Care Paramedic program.

You will end up with about 3 yrs education, then do whatever you want.

Have you tried scholarships to get into Ivy Tech for medic school? What part of Indiana are you in? When I am eligible for financial aid again I am going to apply to the Ivy Tech Paramedic program in Kokomo.

I am from Indianapolis/Greenwood area on the southside. I went to IvyTech 3 months ago and tried to get financial aid and they said because I still live with my parents (spare me the lecture) that their income and mine also added up togeather and I was un-eligible for finanial aide. Now, I could get married and have a kid and go to school for free, but again, that costs money (rotfl) so I've tried. I've went through a medic program before so I know it will be easier this time round when I do it again, Im just really down in the dumps right now and I realy don't want to go into debit more at 21 years old. But then again, I cant get ahead either. so im stuck in a catch 22.

OH and FYI, There are no scolarships for medic school, the way they do it is they make your major nursing until you get close to going into the actuial medic part of the college then they change it you to paramedic science major

Maybe not through IvyTech, but they are out there. Just got to look.
