How Many Responses?

Recommended Posts

While I have not had a chance yet to verify this, as per a letter to the editor in the New York Daily News' "Voice Of The People", Friday January 11, 2008 edition, an EMT from Manhattan, under caption "Answering The call", wrote

Did anyone else notice the number of calls EMS responded to in 2007? There were 1,187,602. That's a lot. Maybe we should get a proper contract.

The contract will be discussed in a different string.

How many responses did YOUR department/squad/corps/company/agency do in 2007?

Per a post on here from one of the managers at my old company, 80k with about 35% of them "emergent" (going to the ER). That probably includes RN/RT CCT calls, standard IFT calls (discharge, dialysis, etc), the children's hospital contract (different "division" so to speak) as well as a smaller operation in a different county.

Approx 300K live in county with about another 200K commuting in for work.

We ran 21K last year, averaging between 3 and 12% growth for each year over the last decade.

We now have 12 EMS units, 4 of which are 12 hour peak cars and the rest are 24 hour cars.
