Why don't you put ice on a snake bite?

Frost bite. More tissue damage than you get from snake bite. And it's just the current way of thinking. It will change again sometime somewhere. There is an article by a snake bite expert from Florida that discusses it more but you will have to research as I'm to lazy to find it sorry.

In the old days we thought it slowed the spread of the toxins from the snake bite.

Oh ok... I suppose ice would do that to some extent as it restricts the blood flow a lill. I assume pressure immobilization and urgent transport to hospital is the most effect treatment. I guess another instructors case of ‘back in the old day’ syndrome…
