  1. Hello,I'm a student paramedic currently studying paramedic science at the University of East Anglia (in England). I was hoping that someone might be able to offer some information about the possibility of an ambulance placement in Scandinavia, Norway in particular? In my 3rd year, before qualifying I'll have the opportunity for an elective placement for about a month. I haven't admittedly been able to find much information on the ems system in Norway but I'm aware that it is staffed by paramedics and EMT's with similar qualifications to those in the UK. Any more information anyone might have to offer on the EMS system in norway would be really great, aswell as any information about the opportunity to shadow/experience in norway :)!Thanks for any help anyone might be able to offer :)!
  2. Hi everyone! I am a 16 year old girl who has her heart set on being a paramedic when I am older. I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to prepare and start training right now. I am from the U.S if that makes a difference. I am not afraid of blood and guts like everyone I know. I am a point guard on the varsity basketball team, and I play year round. I think that has helped me with my quick decision making skills. Thanks for the help!
  3. Hey everyone! Glad I found you all, from what I've gathered from some brief browsing, this seems like a good place to get advice on the world of EMS! So, I'd thought I'd just directly ask this community some on my questions, as I'm a little on the fence about pursuing EMT and Paramedic Should I become an EMS student and eventually an EMT? Also, will my age hinder me greatly? What are the challenges of studying to be an EMT that I should be aware of? If you're concerned about the emotional and mental strain of the job, but know it is a challenge you want to try and overcome, should you think twice? Sorry for all the big questions, any answers or advice you could give me would really be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  4. I was a volunteer Firefighter in Georgia back in the 90's and loved it. Started running rescue calls as a First Responder. Missed out on EMT class back then, but have recently finished class in Shelby, NC. Nervous about NC state test and then, to sit for NREMT. Really would like to do that, my career hit a dead end and now I want to start something new from something old I enjoyed. Middle aged but still in shape and want to do more than punch register buttons or type and answer phones. I'm also a photographer, and hope to upload some cool apparatus pictures.
  5. I'll be starting at Portland Community College shortly in the EMT program, any EMTS/Paramedics have any advice for this area after graduation? I'm very passionate about becoming an EMT, done a lot of research, not worried about pay, but I wish to work in an ambulance and to stay in oregon, any thoughts?
  6. Hey guys! I'm Casandra, 21, newly married, and mom to a 1 year old boy. I began classes this summer to get my AAS in EMS. I am defining medical terms in my sleep! (Literally.) I am really excited to get started with the actual EMT-B classes this fall. Any advice is accepted and appreciated.
  7. I already have my EMT-B. I am planning on attending my local school in Southern PA as soon as I get back from my Family. I am 20 years old, will be 21 in July. I would like some advice on the field. The Do's/Dont's or things I should keep up on so that way, when I finish school I wont have too much trouble finding a spot with a company.
  8. Hello to all, as you may can tell, I'm relatively new to the site and I come in peace looking for insight. Currently I am a college freshman who planned on enrolling into the nursing program in a year or two. I have come to the realization that college may not be for me, at least going the nursing route. Since growing up I always wanted to be in the medical field. I have probably looked at over 300+ Youtube videos of on the job paramedic videos, saying to myself I wish that was me. So my question for you is, how should I go about starting off? Are college credits needed for EMT-B? Any suggestions, ideas, and opinions are greatly appreciated. EDIT: Thanks for the response, I'm from Alabama and currently living in a college town with a non-volunteer service, but my hometown is volunteer only. I am just confused on the training process.
