  1. I'm an EMT Student trying to decide what path to follow. I know for a fact that I want to do EMS, and nothing else, but the best paying jobs in my area are for FF/EMT-P. There are ambulance districts around me, but pretty much all but one pays less than $15 an hour. I really don't have any desire to go putting on turnout gear and climbing up ladders, but I have heard that many firefighters are on the ambulance majority, if not all the time. I wouldn't even mind doing medical calls on the fire truck and extrications. The FD jobs are very hard to get, but is it worth it? I don't want to be stuck on a fire truck all of the time.. Should I just stick to EMS? Thanks, JT
  2. I was a volunteer Firefighter in Georgia back in the 90's and loved it. Started running rescue calls as a First Responder. Missed out on EMT class back then, but have recently finished class in Shelby, NC. Nervous about NC state test and then, to sit for NREMT. Really would like to do that, my career hit a dead end and now I want to start something new from something old I enjoyed. Middle aged but still in shape and want to do more than punch register buttons or type and answer phones. I'm also a photographer, and hope to upload some cool apparatus pictures.
  3. Hello, I am looking for a Paramedic Preceptor, preferably in the Northern CA area. Can be with an ambulance or fire dept. I graduated from NCTI last May and completed my Clinicals at St. Josephs Hospital in Stockton this last august. I have still not been placed by my program due to the overwhelming amount of students compared to the amount of preceptors available through the school. I live in Modesto and currently work full time as a Fire Engineer. I have ALS and BLS ambulance experience of about 1.5 years. I am really eager to get going on this so if you are a preceptor or know of one, id appreciate the information being passed on. I am willing to commute pretty far at this point, probably up to 2 hrs one way. I am also willing to work with a preceptor on overtime shifts etc. to get my hours and experience in. Thanks in advance, Chris
