  3. WE ARE AWESOME !!! OUR Lives are LIVING PROOF !!! To Those of Us Born 1912 - 1970: ~~~~~~~~~ TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930s, '40s, '50s, '60s and '70s!! First, we survived Being born to mothers who may have smoked and/or drank While they were Pregnant. They took aspirin, Ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then, after that Trauma, we were Put to sleep On our tummies In baby cribs Covered With bright colored Lead-based paints. We had no Childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets, And, when we Rode our bikes, We had baseball Caps, Not helmets, on Our heads. As infants and Children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, No air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.. Riding in the Back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water From the garden hose and not from a bottle. We shared one Soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, White bread, real butter, and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And we weren't overweight. WHY? Because we were Always outside playing...that's why! We would leave Home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights Came on. No one was Able to reach us all day. --And, we were OKAY. We would spend Hours building Our go-carts out Of scraps And then ride Them down the hill, Only to find Out we forgot the brakes.. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned To solve the problem.. We did not Have Play Stations, Nintendos and X-boxes. There were No video games, No 150 channels on cable, No video movies Or DVDs, No surround-sound or CDs, No cell phones, No personal computers, No Internet and No chat rooms. WE HAD FRIENDS And we went Outside and found them! We fell out Of trees, got cut, Broke bones and Teeth, And there were No lawsuits From those accidents. We would get Spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping-pong paddles, or just a bare hand, And no one would call child services to report abuse. We ate worms, And mud pies Made from dirt, And The worms did Not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, 22 rifles for our 12th, rode horses, made up games with sticks and tennis balls, and -although we were Told it would happen- we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes Or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just Walked in and talked to them. Little League had Tryouts And not everyone Made the team. Those who didn't Had to learn To deal with Disappointment. Imagine that!! The idea of a parent bailing Us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have Produced some of the best risk-takers, Problem solvers, and Inventors ever. The past 50 To 85 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas.. We had freedom, Failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. If YOU are One of those born Between 1925-1970, CONGRATULATIONS! You might want To share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good. While you are at it, forward it to your kids, so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were. Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ? ~~~~~~~ Edit re Paramedicmike snopes investigation . BTW what does the US dollar have printed on it again ? Mike I think your missing the point.
  4. Back on topic "animal studies" i.e rats the 4 legged variety, and the incidents of homosexuality when confined in a overcrowded enviroment with unlimited food resources is markedly increased .. just saying maybe mother nature is smarter than we first believed ? Although with winds at a Beaufort scale of 8 to 9 today and telecom tower threatening to blow over on my clinic mother nature can be a bitch too !!!
  5. Squint passes the Pepto thru the internet ... Jeeze I can't wait till teliportation happens. Well back to the thread .. the topic I thought was Gay Marriage. I do have some issues with messing with the human reproductive system and please do not misunderstand my the birds and the bees "theory" a turkey baster is not my personal idea of the ways thing should go down. That said I have zero issue with a gay couple raising children but because there a now around 7 billion two legged rats infesting he planet perhaps adoption would be a far better option. cheers
  6. Just one more use for DUCT tape ! The you tube vid is not quite correct, the tape should be occlusive, because the botfly needs access to the environment for oxygen (just a pin hole) so after one to 2 days it MUST be extracted. If its dead then the chance of removing it in its entirety is far better opportunity, without really needing to say, the retained bits an pieces of body parts can cause a very serious infection very similar to tick removal (the head pops off) in the Rocky Mountains .. ps I have a trick learned from an old horsemen in Jasper for that too.
  7. Dear WTF: My advice unsolicited would be go through a EMS provider that has experience dealing with this "culture" and do a damn good check list in gear before going to a developing nation, sure its awesome to have all the drugs required but when you have a flash box and cant even see a rhythm strip well just saying, having Procain, Lydo, and Amnio and a few meds in Spanish only i.e. nembutal) Long story short we called it the "SHORT CODE" , rusty old Russian O2 tanks can be a challenging to fill as well, from welding O2 fractional installation of dubious quality. If you phone the office to request some "pads" and the office tells you to just go to the 711 and tampons are cheaper ..ps no 24 hour anything is some "remote settings" well you just got to wonder wtf ? Best part is the rhum for $3.50 a bottle (for the good stuff) and 50 cents for "bush rum" ... well that's if you bring your own empty bottle and the cola made from cane sugar is to die for LOL . cheers oh yes read up on stinging marine critters the box jelly fish, Iracongi and Portuguese man o war and nasty things called Botflys .. not a lot of education in our programs in Kanukistan on those topics .. come to think of it Malaria, Dysentery, Yellow fever +++ .... enjoy ! Oh oh oh never sign a contract with your "bonus" is the majority of your wage and the proviso being paid upon going to completion with a 7 day notice for the employer i.e. "your services are no longer required" BUT you but you have to give them 30 days notice .... ok ...some lesson's learned. btw the Rhum cushioned the blow to the ego LOL.
  8. rock shoes: .. I cant wait for the day your on one of any of these fling wingers .. I know you will raise the current standards in delivery of care in BC .. next time you visit I have a couple of bedside TnK for your kit's gratis from Arcticat ! mobey: It appears the link to the ORNGE "difficulty" in their config for CPR has vanished off the inter net .. weird eh ?
  9. Actually if you look under Human Rights ACT there is one group not even mentioned, that being White Anglo Saxon Straight Divorced Tax paying Canadian Men. .......... just LOOK . http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/h-6/page-1.html#h-4 Answer 2 .. NO very sadly and
  10. Ok that's funny right there ! I missed it first read through LMFAO ! Happi: If you had done your native studies (lol) the west coast FN primarily Haida, called them man/woman and usually a shaman (flamers the more derogatory modern day terminology) they were traditionally very artistic (that sounds stereotypical but YES but it was the truth) I have you had the pleasure of meeting Roy Henry Vickers his work I would die to have one print on my wall. But in the great plains Cree, Blood, Sioux, Den'e culture's they the man/woman were ostracised and sometimes executed as they were not considered "warriors" even though the Haida were some of the fiercest. Even if one goes back to the Greeks in ancient times homosexuality has been around forever, I have 2 VERY good friends that are female gay .. I am called their "Stag Hag" I just wish they would share the videos LOL. I take no issue with the union of 2 humans I DO take offence that "Special Rights" are sought by the militants amongst the G/L community . As a Scot .. best not dis me Kilt .. or my Broadsword will be pulled from its sheath, its not a dress lads, it has no zippers so you don't scare the sheep away.
  11. And which country would you be referring to ?
  12. As long as they invite me to the reception .. lots of free food and booze is all good, and I still have 4 extra fondue sets that have never been out of the boxes in 22 years. In Nigeria they execute gays ... WTF over ? Nigeria (if you have ever vacationed there) is one of the most corrupt places in the WORLD.
  13. Well I am all for it .. why because it does not effect me in the slightest .. that said are they best ready themselves for the Divorce Laws as well. Fair is fair and Divorce Lawyers need love too .
  14. Meh I already have one of those !
  15. Cote de Pablo is the hottest chick on TV today IMHO ! I never miss one NCIS episode .. the Dinozzo Head slap is classic, Mark Weatherly is hilarious, as is the Goth forensic scientist Abbs and then the huge personality of Illya Kuryakin in "The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (I grew up with this series) or aka Ducky / David McCallum the pathologist .. this TV series has a great medical adviser . Mark Harmon is well Mark Harmon http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1580243/bio I would pay them to be the set medic !
  16. Well I awoke today to the best of news WHOO HOO !.. My fleet Ops manager Marcel located my KNIFE in a gut wagon I returned 4 weeks ago .. the gas tank lost a metal strap, yup a bloody Ford! I secured it with a ratchet strap and had to trim the strap so it did not wrapped around the drive shaft for the 300 km trip over rough ice roads for return for repairs and we did not have to transport it out on a low boy trailer $$$$$$ ! I will when my tour is over take a picture of it .. best rescue blade ever guys. I hope Marcel likes rhum ... he is going to get a 40 pounder for his efforts, it slipped through the seat, out of my pocket and he really had to look to locate it. SWEET ! BOLO cancelled
  17. Yes Wendy, the question was asked on BEBs announcement concerning Robs Death by Anatomychick .. I just thought it would be a nice idea to reflect on Robs last thread, his tenor and his reflections. tcripp: The play on words by Rob were and to quote Mark Twain, "The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated" Rob loved doing a half twist and quarter turn with English and his love of "foreshadowing", most tearfully this is now not rumour, he was in his own way trying to prepare emotionally. In my post to Rob, as I was privy to the severity of his illness and my post took bloody hours to compose as I just wanted to see that smile on his face again. Dust responded in his typical way with humour the best of all medicine. I had sent him a Portex mini trach, hence his comment about the Nu Trach, a narcotics pelican box (apparently it was exactly the right fit for the preloads he carried he was tickled with it ) and a Vortan VAR Pressure Control ventilator the DVD of Trailer Park Boys which went over extremely well with the Marines that he cared for in his clinic. HammerPCP (where the heck did she go ?) well lets put it this way .. Dust could be quite the ladies man and he continually teased me that he "visited" with her ! LOL. Oh, I did NOT sent the Conkie "finger puppet" that came with the DVD .. its on my personal collection of Crests on my wall. RIP Rob you never had to apologize to anyone for anything, in fact I believe a lot of us owe you to put us back on the tracks ! cheers edited for a spelling error AGAIN !

  19. I really do not wish to hijack your intro thread .. Man your on the right page. The whole idea of an operation based out of Calgary that is supposedly a not for profit show, smacks of a monopoly in delivery of health care services across western Canada . As IF Sask does not have 20 Helo operations that are FAR more cost effective and many experience's EMS Operators that would enjoy not only in providing a premier HEMS service BUT retain the 20 million in government funding within the confines of Sask as after all its not the governments money its the taxpayers. ps watch that 20 million balloon when they have had a couple years of service er do I mean a couple years to dupe the taxpayers with the big red PR machine. Then their is the little issue of Mr Brads Walls favouritism .. did you see any RFP or Government contract tendered for HEMS anywhere .. I think there is too much going on behind those doors that the public has every right to be aware. Day VFR in Sask .. hmmmm I guess they forgot Winter = Darkness eh ? On to the evil twin cousin of ACoP .. they are a mirror image and are directed by your MOH .. don't think for a second that STARS SOP will not be followed any where they operate, they are above the regulatory bodies. cheers
  20. I would disagree .. Magnets just smarter than the average Bear !
  21. Say for example if Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Nic Gage, Robin Williams or Hillary Skank fall down go boom .. do you want to be putting a C Collar on and LSB them ? What if they "pull a shoulder muscle" and DEMAND controlled Benzos (heck maybe to take the "edge" off) or have cough due to viral infection and DEMAND they need antibiotics ? Do you have a protocol for prophylactic ETOH withdrawal ? perhaps a protocol for lines of desciacted Ketamine OD ? or Salvia anyone ? Then its one thing to treat within the confines of the US border but when your deployed to a developing nation because they have their own Citation X or Lear 55 to flash anywhere, it becomes a completly new set of rule books .. just saying unless one has a great Medical Director and a lawyer on retainer .. you are walking a tightrope daily. Again PASS. Ok one exception I would be pleased as punch to be Charlie Sheens personal "Medic" cheers
  22. That's because if he stands on a chair he can see from Alberta easily, of he gets a ladder he can see Ontario too. (old SK joke) Hey mobey carefully what you ask for .. in ORNGE AW139 one can't do CPR in, and STARS AW 139 configuration puts it over weights .. well so says the "rhum"er mill ...and because of wt's no flights into the RAH. When the City of Edmonton shuts down YXD .. there will be no ILS glide-slope in IFR weather either .. ah I so wish I had a Royal Blue Flightsuit . This is the bird they should have chosen and its built in North America too ! http://www.bellhelic...ab=features-tab http://www.bellhelic...1148327697.html The SK government would have been WAY WAY Smarter to go with the 412 .. Utility bird, Fire Fighting bucketing, Police support with dedicated Paramedic Crew chiefs .. well you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink I guess . http://www.bellhelicopter.com/en_US/Commercial/Bell412/1291148368641.html#/?tab=features-tab Just think about it with current events in AB the Lethbridge Hurricaine wind driven fires 2 days ago, the Slave lake burn the town down +++ .. I will never understand how the "offload of costs" of Health Care to the public in tax free lotto's and calendar door knocking sales is the Canadian way ? Dear Tommy D. .. some of us REALLY try hard to be the good shepherds, just sorry but no one is listening. cheers
  23. It appears to be the Brisbane B strain is pandemic ? LOL
