  1. I was told by NR I could retake NR Test and skills to get my EMT Basic NR certification back even though I have been lapsed for 14 years after I take a 24 hour refresher course. anyone ever do this or know someone who has? My job only requires EMR so I got it a couple of years ago. Only difference as far as I have seen is when I was a Basic I drove and ambulance and had to pay a lot of money to keep my NREMT up and Driving certification. As an NREMR to keep my certification is a lot cheaper and I drive a Fire truck and get there before the ambulance and sometimes have to ride in the ambulance assisting in the back with the Paramedic. The EMR was only 60hrs where EMT was double that.
  2. My state requires NR for EMT Basic and up. Where I work I am the only EMR who went the extra and got NR everyone I work with think it's not necessary. I was a NR EMT-Basic 14 years ago, but I let my NR lapse.
  3. I am currently a National Registered EMR and I am trying to understand how I would identify myself with other EMR's who are not Nationally Registered. The NR test for EMR was pretty intense and took a lot of studying to pass. I am confused if I can say I'm an EMT, NREMR. I don't want to say the wrong thing. Also the NR website allows me purchase the NR Emergency Medical Respobder patch and has NREMT embroidered on it. I've read an understand the differences of the roles of EMR to Paramedic.
