  6. What a excellent discussion! If you all don't mind, I would like to speak as a former regular recipient of this drug. I have to say what a fantastic drug as far as working to get rid of nausea and its job as an anti-emetic! I wouldn't know why its so dangerous but there again I'm not a doctor lol! I recently after 1 year of taking it, had to be taken off of it because it caused the same reaction that certain narcotics cause, which is an instant depressed/anxious feeling, along with hives. So for obvious reasons i no longer take this medication. But thats just my 2 cents on it, thought maybe you guys would want to hear first hand what its like. Overall Excellent drug and I'm interested in more on this discussion. Take care everyone and God Bless you!
  7. Thats not what i was referring to, a couple different people made comments about everyone taking this thread literally...i was stating that I dont see any place where people took this thread seriously as it was meant to be a funny kind of thing. The thing with Brent was funny, not something that was meant to be serious We all know that serious and Brent never go together
  8. I still dont see where the party pooper person is? lol!
  9. LOL! Its all good Brett! I still laughed my ass off when i read it only because its so true!! but hmmmm i didn't see anyone get offended by this joke? I find it quite humorous and sweets post made my day lol!
  10. soooooo the point of this thread was what now? I'm so lost
  11. You never cease to amaze me Brent. LoL
  12. Well, I don't foresee this guy making it through class. We have until Oct 15th (the day we can officially start clinicals) to have at least a B average. Right now, this guy is failing the class. If he doesn't have a B by the 15th then he is out of the program as is everyone that is getting less than a B. But the whole wearing the uniform to class even though not on duty irks me just as much as the scanner/pagers going off during class. Wednesday I will be talking to the instructor about this individuals behavior. We'll see how far I get. That class is too stinking expensive for me to listen to some guys scanner go off. So, I make my final conclusion, they should not be allowed in class at ALL, high school student or college student, it doesn't matter. Your in class for a reason.
  13. Excellent topic! I'm in EMT-B class right now that takes place every Monday and Wednesday night. My class is full of a bunch of volly firefighters. One in particular drives me nuts! He brings in his hand held scanner, sets it on his desk, takes his pager off his belt, sets it on his desk as well. Mind you this guy is way out of his way to even answer a page if it went off in class but he insists on turning the volume up as high as it will go on both devices. the tones will drop, he turns it up LOUDER! He cant even respond if he needed too!! He's the biggest WHACKER i've ever seen in my life! As if all that isn't bad enough, he'll come to class wearing his uniform and outright admit to you that he is not on call that day but just wants to wear his uniform to class. I've asked this guy before if he could please turn the volume way down because its very distracting to me and the 22 others in my class, but he fails to do so. I'm not sure what he is trying to prove unless he's trying to wow the girls by acting like Billy Blazes or something. I've nothing against volly firefighters or any firefighters for that matter but this guy wins the award for being the biggest whacker. I wont even go into detail on what his personal vehicle looks like  obviously not a real license plate but was still fun to make
  14. I'm a EMT student right now and so far we have not been taught how to judge what is and is not an emergency, I wasn't even aware that we could do that *being sarcastic of course* SO I come to my next point, why don't we just continue doing our jobs and stop whining about the "BS CALL" we had last night. Yea I'm sure it sucks to get up at 2am because granny has toe pain...big deal! Find a new profession if its that emotionally harsh on you. Yes i agree wholeheartedly that there is abuse in the 911 system but laying around and complaining about it isn't going to get us anywhere. It will continue to happen no matter what measures are taken until someone finds a sure fire way to determine what is a true emergency and what isn't. what may not be an emergency to you, may be to them so good luck finding a solution on determining this. We are in this profession to care for people and be there in their time of need. time for a career change if your here for something other than what your trained to do. This post was not an attack on anyone here. Just my 2 cents worth. Take care and God Bless you all
  15. Yes i apologize for that. I didn't realize it would do that when people posted, again my apologies.

  20. Its a great tool! Only downfall to it, is in my area and i'm quite sure in other areas, you are not allowed to search through a pts personal belongings to find info on them--that includes cellphones. I still use ICE on my phone but I also carry a laminated index card on me to work or anywhere I go where I could potentially be away from home for a extended period of time. It lists all my info, medical problems, allergies and medications. It has come in handy more times than once though! Is a cheap method to the medic alert bracelets and such
  21. Thank you Dwayne! I actually shocked myself at how much it all clicks with me, perhaps I have a future in psychology? LOL! I took a psych class and 4 years of sociology and 2 years of a class called American Problems. I can honestly say this topic never came up. It brings up interesting discussion and your absolutely right in needing to change the way the public copes with it. Its so easy to sit and point fingers, but rarely does anyone say "okay, hold up, what motive was behind this? How can it be prevented? What can I do to help?" Makes things quite interesting! I love all the points everyone is bringing up. Keep posting people! Have a great day!
