  1. All three transport Both Las vegas city department has boxes along with clark county fire dept has boxes out in henderson etc.... AMR has a contract with the city for 911 also so basically when 911 is called both a Fire Dept Box (Rescue) as they call it but it is an ambulance and a AMR ambulance show up depending on the call and who shows up first i think is who transports the pt. According to the people who use to work there Fire throws there weight around when its a trauma call/MVA not to mention they get like 30 dollar stipens every time they transport. The city of las vegas is divided between North Las Vegas and South between two private companys which both are owned by AMR but keep to different brand names. Medic West being the north and AMR las vegas being the south. Medicwest.com is for north las vegas and i know they offer incentives for hire including moving wages sign on bonus and possibly training u as a CCT-P when u are a EMT-P for them for like a year or two. AMR.net for las vegas but u are more likely to get hired if u are already working for AMR and apply for an inter divisional transfer. Along with everything i said they have a very liberal EMS policy/protocol including most things being PTC (Prior to contact) along with some major expanded scope things such as CPAP etc... The people that used to work there but moved away said it was one of the craziest experinces they ever had which included living in Vegas itself along with the experience u get by just working in that city for a year or two. Any more questions? P.S Being an EMT-B pretty much only gets u a security job at a casino...if u want to work the 911 system u have to be a EMT-Intermediate at the minimum which they offer those classes out there also. The best incentives are for Paramedics though
  2. with all do respect i believe as above stated that the main part of the article is based on the fact that it was the dispatchers opinion and propably without the actual expression of the particular individual's tone of voice then we will propably never understand what the article might mean unless the writer simply said i was trying to make it sound like this. Pen is always mightier than the sword because with everything i just said the nutshell someone might say is "Am i suggesting the dispatcher was just being a B%$#@ on the phone?"
  3. personally me working 24 hour shifts for over 3 years might be the sign i will benefit going to 12 hours and switching night halfs so i sleep during the day and save more money by missing out on things because i have to sleep
  4. i understand ur rant but i know what im trained of and i know my job thats all that matters and when i respond to that call i think of it as lucky to have me because i know what im doing other than that im not trying to sound cocky but im confident and i dont care what the public thinks and if they have the wrong idea ill re educate them, i dont bend for anyones sympathy
