Maybe I'm mistaken, but according to these links I can average 25K-28K per year. This sounds a lot more then 6-10 hours per hour. The first link is from the company thats trainng me. I guess the salary wages are higher from where I live? EMT wages for Ann Arbor, MI Ann Arbor, MI Huron Valley Ambulance

The restaurtant business is conjested with alocholics and drug addicts and I'm trying to stir away from that crowd and do something meaningful. The money doesn't mean anything for now...I'm young, single and can could support myself as a basis EMT for now.

Wow, thanks for all the great feedback guys. Basic EMT might be "monky work" but it beats being 24 years old and working in the restaurant business Can wait for classes to start May 2nd!

Hello, my name is Scott and I'm new to the board. I'm very interested in a carrer as a EMT and I start my training this May in Ann Arbor, MI. I've been bouncing in and out of community college for a few years now, and I've yet to obtain a degree. Once I become certified by the state for basic EMT, will not having a degree from school hurt my chances in landing a basic EMT postion? I would really love some feedback on this. Scotty 8)
