I happen to like the iPad, and think it will do great things for EMS. When Apple Released the.... 1) ...iMac every hated it. It had USB, and didn't work with older Macintosh systems. Where is the FLOPPY Drive! 2...1st generation iPod - everyone hated it. Mp3 player are a dead market and the music industry will never support it. 3)...iPhone - Who needs a PDA and a Phone, Plus it has no key pad! 4)....iPad - History repeats itself and Apple has a hit. I think people spend too much time looking at how they use Tech. now and not how they will use it in the future. The tools that Apple creates today will be mainstream in a couple of years. If it wasn't for Apple we would still be using a floppy drive in our computers and listening to music on CDs. I think that the iPad has laid a solid foundation to build on and to create better products. Yes the 2nd generation is always better then the first. I am excited for this digital future that doesn't use paper, no jump drives, or DVD/Blueray disks. John Bignell EMSLive.com

The first step in helping abused or neglected children is learning to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect. Child abuse is both shocking and commonplace. Each spring, thousands of bee hives from different areas moved from one area to an other to pollinate our cranberries, apples and many other fruits and vegetables. An estimated one third of all our food relies on honey bee’s pollination. As trucks loaded with hive boxes make their way, there is a risk of a vehicle crash, or overturned truck. In Las Vegas, an ambulance company has announced that it would be providing a special, oversize ambulance specially equipped to handle specially equipped to handle massively overweight and morbidly obese patients who weigh 500pounds or more. The need for the larger ambulances is obvious as the average American is much heavier. Of Nevada's 1.7 million adult residents in 2004, the Federal Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and the state Health Division estimate that 21 percent, or about 357,000, were obese. EMS Live Case Study: Dopamine is chemically related to epinephrine and norepinephrine. But lets now get away from the fact that these guys have been through hell, their peers are sick, or have died providing care for this city. I think the features in iTunes and their new media centre will drive the PC market to match what apple can do now. The new features will have long term effects on the cable tv market. I now want to buy full length movie, not just TV shows from iTunes. Apple's Front Row program is amazing!

Should more money be spent with on Rural EMS? I meet with leaders in EMS last week at a Rural EMS conference. Many states and nations are dealing with rural health issues....and the solutions seems to be a community paramedic.

EMS isn't just a job, it becomes you. You really have to work at not letting it eat you up. You can watch people that live, eat, breath EMS and then they burn out. Your husband has to invest time into his job, but he also has to invest in to his family. Learning to leave work at work isn't easy!

Podcasting is only connect to ipods because it is the most popular Mp3 player. I think if Sony had an Mp3 player as popular as an iPod then Podcasting would be call SonyCasting......also you don't need an MP3 player to enjoy podcasting! I don't have an ipod and think they are all too much money for what they are! I do like the iPod, with 60gb hard drive and colour screen with a video out so you can watch pictures on your TV...I think that is cool...maybe someday.

The problem with real fire shows is that dark buildings are not very interesting. Most fires are just that smoke filled dark places. Every exciting for the firefighter, but doesn't make for good TV. Randy Mantooth is planning a new TV show about USAR-1, it Will be an EMS TV show...kinda like naval seals of EMS. Last time he was on our EMS radio show, he had said that we was presenting it to networks this winter and could see production as early as this fall. Without saying too much, EMS Live has an interesting project in development that maybe of interest. Once we are further a long I will be able to share some details.
