  1. glad to hear you didnt feel a pop and a sudden onset of SOB and hemopytsis.
  2. Much respect to you mike. However I really do find that slightly insulting. Society advocates murder for convicted felons.(AKA capital punishment) He IS one!!! This time with a 13 year old girl. Its dangerous people like him that society needs to be focusing on rather than the Rastafarian pot smoker. woah woah woah. Before I let this get too far and possibly twisted in a ugly manner. I had no direct nor firendly dealings with him. He was a kept at a friends home last summer and worked for the families company. The family were good christian folk who thought jesus would save him. Thats how I know of him. because when I was visiting my firend he was there constantly trying to be a pain in the you know what with pity me sessions. Never was a friend. He was my firends families jesus/charity case that gone horribly wrong
  3. this is a load of bullshit. Makes me wish the boondock saints were real
  4. Theres a guy I know who has already racked up two second degree felonies (one for arson, the other possesion of a stolen weapon). And now this numbnuts hit the big time in december and had sex (and admitted to the detectives) he had sex with a 13 year old child (he is 19 for gods sakes.) Ive known this kid since the summer and it irks the hell out of me that hes out of jail (got out last week) and hes friends with my girlfriend(and is hanging out with her alot) that he still likes alot (and only likes her for one reason). Ive lost all hope in the justice system and that 19 year old proves my case. What the hell is wrong with this country?
  5. Each truck has its own set of unique qualities is what I was getting at. my point with my soap box was dont put a number on anything. A 19 year old can get his medic and administer controlled substances and be in charge of someones livelihood and yet cannot play a round of poker of have a beer (emphasis on "a") it would be beneficial to have a defensive driving course to refresh on the foundations of driving itself. but its more important you get these young guys (younger than me) out there driving different type in a low risk enviroment rather than going through cones at 10 miles per hour and watching videos. I can guarantee you. I run hot and I see a tight curve im not thinking of the physics and the prinicpals behind what is about to possible kill me. Heck out in this region we can run cofr three in the middle of nowehre to get the rescue randy jitters of of them. Its how they did it for me. more truck time (faster than 10 miles per hour on the windiest road you cant find with deep grades going downhill)
  6. paramedic mike. I love yah to death. But it doesnt recognize some medical terminology. And on my iphone it thinks it knows more than me and corrects my "mistake", I get a call I fell asleep. i wake up and there is my spelling. Grammar however yes no excuses. That,s why im hopefully trying to squeeze in english 1301 comp and rhetoric before my paramedic semester starts again. Where you a catholic nun who taught English in a past life. PS I hang out with the sisterhood. Some time after 1030 when her roomates asleep. Joking joking I want the money so I can purchase my own car and give back my grandparents vehicle which they had let me borrow since october
  7. ANd in response to the original question. Tell your medics to stop driving like caca. When they arent running code they need to be driving it like its their old grandmas van. When they are running code if they are on highway highway watch for intersections step off the gas and gear down if your going into a steep turn rather than using the brake and when your half way through it accelerate through the rest of the turn to help straighten you out box's are not meant to go over 85 (and thats pushing it) any faster and youll soften the metal in the rear diff and itll start shaving to pieces. (someone did that to medic 16 my ugly adopted stepson of medic 16) or treat the truck like they treat their vehicle
  8. Dude. Im looking at being a paramedic in less than 3 months. And ive taken two drivers ed courses. no tickets no wrecks within the last 3 years neither of which were of my own fault (both when I was 16). Ive been driving since I was fourteen and most of those vehicles were full sized luxury suvs with a similar profile to vanbaulances through multi weather conditions including several trips to the rockies where the sleet and snow came out of no where. And I can tell you I drive those trucks better than a 20 year vet. You know what my first truck I drove. A 2004 freightliner medium duty. Than my next one which I had a 8 month bond with was a type III 2003 E450 7.3 L powerstroke diesel with a rebuilt motor and transmisission with a MEDTEC box. I ran that truck code three in rural and city streets. Experience with a senior officer dont mean squat. Hell for all you know he might end up teaching him how get the truck to turboshift thorugh gears and prematurely wear out the clutch so they can accelerate faster . or burn up a rear differential from excessive speeds going code three or just a very high speed limit for long distances You get the rescue randy jitters out of them and run them through scenarios. Assign him to one truck and only one. Have him become "in tune" with his box. Hippyish I know but when I did it it didnt just become an ambulance it became "my truck". It was the cleanest of the entire fleet and I checked fluids on it like clock work before and after shift and rode the mechanics ass religiously when it was about due for something or something was acting up with it. And with that kind of pride you learn to respect your truck and like your limits you learn its. And as far as driving it once all of that is acquired the rest is comes as common sense (low lying poles, trees, electrical wires, diesel truck not meant for hauling ass, potholes are 5 times worse in the back as they are in the front as with the stopping. Its a true bond between man and machine.Thats something a newbie cant learn if hes flipping through a truck a shift. Is when A truck is acting right and when A truck is in need of a mechanics loving hands. Im 20 years old and ive busted my ass and have been turned away because off **** like you pushing to get me off the truck because im a liability. Ive been driving a box for two years now and have run 40+ HOURS NO SLEEP LIKE THE REST OF YOU!!! hell why dont you increase your emt minimum age requirement since thats all an emt is worth anyways besides a basic lifting service and applying O2. Try getting that out of a two day EVOC course. Im now off my troll spree and my soap box. Note to paramedic mike and Dwayne. I am tired however I am coherent when i write this post. but its pencil pushing crap like this thats caused me to be automatically turned away by three different nearby 911 units because of the very thing gulfmedic pointed out and further have those services hire someone less qualified than myself
  9. oh goodness no. Ive never said once I wanted to drop. Ill go through a storm pouring shit pushing a heavy cart up hill before I even utter the words I quit or im settling. I want my I or AEMT because its a pay raise thatll get me closer to my own car. More patients that arent discharges. And with my I or AEMT I get my own truck and a basic. registry is different from Texas department of state health. and im not sure what the health department would do if I have a AEMT. They only have the EMT-I 85 especially when I have three more months from completion with a certification and a 2 year degree. AT this point their is nothing to salvage. Its all or nothing. And I dont walk away from anything empty handed
  10. Oh fun. I couldve taken that last semester (the 85). Is the NREMT still offering that test? I thought they phased it out in February. I need the cert because the car I have is being borrowed from my grandparents and I need to save up for a sizeable down payment for my own vehicle.
  11. I missed an online final exam for my assessment based management class. Before that exam I held a 86%. Now since I missed it I will receive a failing grade on my college transcript and than I have to take it over again. Between my other final exams and a unit exam I have had to study i'm getting burnt out just from the sheer school work involved.I spoke to my instructor about it because I finally remembered it 2 days later. I couldn't even pull it up on exam day so I didn't even worry to call anyone. Shes pissed and knows its my fault. So I have a feeling im going to be getting the axe. We have a platinum EMS testing bank that makes me look like I know absolutely nothing and i'm coming back with grades the lowest they've been since i started my medic. When I thought I knew my stuff these questions shoot me in the ass. And with my mother luckily recovering well from her 3rd or 4th surgery to repair what the docs from surgery one, two, and three (ive lost count). With the second to last surgery almost killing her because the surgeon clamped a bile duct. I got see her just last weekend since she drove down to see my younger sisters high school athletics I was shocked at what I saw. She looked like a ghost. She looked like she aged 20 years in a matter of months because she had lost so much weight. I take the unit exam tomorrow and I have to use a lunch break from the last clinical I need to complete my clinical hours for this semester. So much is going on at this point that I cant even remember where I put my keys to my car 30 seconds after I put them down and I have to go look for them for five minutes. Only to find they are right in front of my face. Hell I pace back in fourth in my dorm now trying to figure out why I got up in the first place. My mind is mush. Im three months out from the paramedic brotherhood and i'm just running out of steam. I just need someone that has been through this to tell me i'm not alone. I hate this feeling of disheartenment and isolation. (pardon my spelling paramedicmike but my web browser is being useless in the autocorrect department)
  12. I'm putzing around with getting my AEMT because for the next 3 months that's countless hours of overtime I can pick up on that the medics won't take. A 3 dollar an hour raise and experience with the skills I've acquired Because during that three months I'm finishing up my medic figured what the heck might as well be able to to use a little bit more skills. My mother told her that too over the weekend since she is likely to be her consult. I wish her better luck. Talking to (insert name here) is like talking to a brick wall.
  13. Is that the reason why we dont have any No wonder why I havent seen any french medics. Anyways a warm welcome from the last frontier in the US to yah.
  14. What a beautiful symbiotic relationship
  15. I love bates as far as boots. Pants: I wore 5.11's and they havent failed me yet however in the summer they are god awful and I try to shoot for black nursing scrubs that have the ems pockets. Good quality pair of shears are indispensible. And something Ive learned is having a few forceps around are awesome for fixing equipment. Little disposable penlight and a pocket drug guide/ bls guide are great. you can get a entry level littman for like 50 to 75 and itll last forever if you take care of it,
  16. Ive been hearing inside the hospitals they want phenegran ran as a controlled drip. Any of you guys heard that?
  17. Yeah I had a talk with my supervisor and he wants me to run vent pt's as a EMT-I 99 or AEMT. However I told him I wont do it unless I get thorough training on the equipment and He adds a exemption in the medical protocols to allow me to have cardiac monitoring/ waveform capnography and the cabability to perform under ACLS and PALS protocols as needed signed by the Medical Director. I wish for many things but I will likely get none. Gotta love private.
  18. Ive met mine once. And ive been at (insert name of amulance here) for over a year and 3 months now
  19. or if its in the cheek and its obstructing the airway
  20. I love the registry for making stuff so dang difficult. Whats the difference between the two. Im having difficulty finding the scope of practice for both. Can anyone point in the right direction as to which test to apply for and where I can find a printable version of the scope of practice. Also as a side note Im a EMT out of texas so I dont know which EMT they recognize and the states scope.
  21. What does his nasal mucosa look like. No trail marks noted? (including feet) Im still not ready to rule out drug abuse Has the house had any recent work done.(cleaning of course) was this because of some kind of plumping or recent water damage? any petechiae?
