  1. O.K., what everyone is saying has good points and bad points, and yes, we can not prepare for everything, the most we can do is cross our fingers and hope we planned for the next event. Besides, fire and police resources what other groups do you or your EMS providers work with on drills? Does anyone work with red cross or local VFW or elks? How about C.E.R.T.(community emergency response team), there is a lot of training matters out there Thu the DHS and PEMA to start you own group and train them to back you up....I live in a Private gated community with over 90 miles of roadway, we have a fire/rescue company and also two BLS units, we also have public safety officers on patrol, but still find a lot of use for the CERT TEAMS, like someone said, if all of our resources respond to a major event, then who is left to take care of our community while we are away.....don't say that CERT are not well train, because you are the ones doing the training so train them right in the first place and then you'll know what you have.........
  2. Does it count if you have little fire trucks and ambalances on your P.J.? And a poster of the movie "Bring out the dead" over your bed? I think I may need help.
  3. I am not going away mad or even going away at all. I'm just going back to my old ways, they used to call me shadow, unseen but felt..... If more people took the time to question their belief, not just go by what the church tells you to do, you may find that it will make you a better Christen because you have found answers to your questions on your own and it may deepen your faith.....the church sometimes I feel does understand that the people must be treated as adults that have chooses in what they believe, that they can leave anytime they want. I have spoken to a lot of people who after spending time with me have come away with a better understanding of their faith and deeper faith. I do not try to convert anyone, in fact anyone who comes to me wanting to convert to Buddhism I try to talk out of it(at first, anyway) until they answer the questions in their minds. The ones that lays in the back of their minds. I take no offensive at anything anyone says or does, I respect everyone. As I said before, first you have treat people as if they were your mothers in past life's, but I also look and treat people as if I had been or am their mother. How would you treat your child? Wouldn't you want the best for them? Would you not hold them close when they hurt? Does it matter if they are dirty, have bladder problems? yingyang
  4. just who came first, do you know, and who's teaching were they really? I guess this forum is not as open minded as people say it, I have great respect for all and wish everyone the very best in their pursuit of the "Correct Faith" and as I have said before it makes my heart glad to see people enjoying their their faith and I cry when I see people without faith, these are the people I pray for, that they find faith, something to carry them thur the hard times, I think that God is God no matter how you pray, so some people by pass the middle man and go directly to God for advise and help, is that wrong? If you landed on a island and found the people there living rightness life's and a strong believe in God but not Jesus, would you condemn them all? Would you force them to change? And if they did not want to change would you kill them off, in the name of your faith, must you convert everyone on earth, isn't there a little room in the world for people who just want to be left alone to follow the path they have chosen? I give of my time freely and always, the ambulance unit know that whenever they need someone to fill in to make up the crew, they can count on me, I may be an EMT but I'll run as a driver, or bottle washing if need be, just to get out and help someone in need, I don't get paid for this, and I put in around 100 hours a month doing this and other things for the community, am I wrong? I wish you all the very best, I guess I'll go watch my rocks grow. I will not be bother you any more, and hope I have not offended any. Someday the time will come when we can all walk freely as brothers and sisters, until that time May God bless you and Buddha protect you.
  5. I am a little older then some and not as old as others so I have seen a lot of pain and death in this world and how people handle life's chaos. I look at some people and how strong their belief is in their church and it makes me happy...to show your love for God is a great thing....some people choose to go to church on sunday and declare, others walk the walk and talk the talk.....I have known a lot of people who have taken up the study of Buddhism but do not choose it as their religion I call them Christen Buddhist (smile) It is your faith that will carry you Thur the hard times and keeps you looking forward towards tomorrow. My faith? I believe that we have to care more for each other, to stop war, to help the planet heal....to set a example for the young to follow.....to teach, "TO TRY AND FIND A HOME IN MUDDY WATERS"...A lotus flower can only grow in muddy waters and so can your life grow and you can find peace within muddy waters of everyday chaos. How we choose to display our faith is what makes us human, I have great love and faith in God, I just don't have any faith in any religion that teaches that if you don't think like they do, then you must be destroyed,
  6. I have been a student of the teachings of the Buddha for over twenty years and the only problems I have had is the people who can not except me for what I am. I find that there are a lot equally valid points of view in the world, I follow the path of compassionate living, I try to follow the idea that we are or were realated in the life or past life..if you try to recognize other beings as having been our mothers in some life,(both male and female)then you can not help but deal with people with strong compassion. I can not say that my going into ems a calling or not, I look at it as "why not, I am human and so are you, if I can help you then why wouldn't I"
