  1. She said she is leaving the job due to a "toxic and dangerous environment" and wrote a letter to the city explaining why. How many of you out there are close to experiencing this? Here is the full article: https://fox8.com/2019/08/13/i-team-paramedic-writes-explosive-letter-to-city-leaders/?fbclid=IwAR2MPc9D5iZ2qHHdXcIfJ9LQ-GcpuZvK6BLjOUV0nbRGqOR8DHPeM0HOlkQ
  2. Hi, Can you clarify what a NEMT company is? I have not heard of it.
  3. No problem! Good luck with your career pursuit. Come back sometime and tell us how your course went.
  4. @emtwannbe3, Your post indicates to me more of a desire to enhance the current education that first respondents currently possess about behavior emergencies rather than going into EMS. Given your academic history, you seem to be in a great position to format your ideas into a program that would help everyone involved with patients experiencing an issue. I would recommend seeking some ride-along time to understand the challenges of the first respondents to gain insight on the real views first respondents have about patients that suffer from psychiatric or behavioral emergencies.
  5. @JebNickle Does it still show on your record? I think that would be the first I would check.
  6. Just curious, who verifies your training submitted to the NREMT site? Does your medical director, state or another entity? I heard some EMS agencies are allowed to do it for their own members. Not sure how I feel about that.
  7. Interesting. I think a lot will have to do with how management handles the information on the files. Will it be archived securely in the event of litigation or will it be reviewed for quality improvement/witch-hunt reasons? Would medicare / medicaid want access to the files to validate billing?
  8. @paramedicmike , I do not disagree with you. But how does the process get started? If we require new EMTs to have degrees or to attend programs that require substantially more education and course work the industry risks a decline in new EMTs entering the profession. In many areas, there is a shortage of EMTs already. Thoughts?
  9. I would say that if the EMT was not accessing privileged information from run reports or other confidential documents then there is no expectation of HIPAA protection. If they are just regurgitating the news that everyone else posses then the EMT would be all set. If the EMT is acting as a representative of the organization as he speaks of the incident, there may be internal policy issues but no HIPAA issues. I look forward to what everyone else has on this.
  10. I was reading the article about the Woman sentenced to prison for biting paramedic and it made me wonder how many of you have been assaulted so I created a poll. Share your story below.

  12. I have been reading a lot about a push back against 24hr shifts. I figured I would bring the question here where some real answers can be had instead of the short snippets of dredge that Facebook seems to attract. What are your thoughts?
  13. What is everyone's thoughts on this? This is a change.org petition to "Allow paramedics to continue to save lives with endotracheal intubation!" Should the will of the people supersede any data that says the opposite?
  14. Crap.. not sure why it did that. Try this: http://www.sacbee.com/news/article161544138.html

I am curious what some of the different protocols across the country, and other countries say.
  19. I have seen a lot of ads lately from different colleges that are offering bachelor degrees in EMS or EMS Management. In checking their websites it looks like they offer 40-50 credits for a Paramedic and 12 or so for EMT. What are your thoughts on this? Is this moving us in the right direction?
  20. Hi everyone, What is your thoughts on the Syrian attacks?
