  1. Typical "AK", taking everything out of context, showing off, and then locking the thread. I will silence myself yet again. Don't ever ask me for help.
  2. Sorry AK. I just felt if people can ask for money for plastic surgery and such, I could try for a child. I've been here for years, just hiding the last few, and especially when Rob died.
  3. Go to Read, help, and pass along if you would please! Thanks!!! AK edited: While I can appreciate your predicament, I think you need to keep this offline. If you wish to write out your story here and then see what comes your way via PM, I am ok with that. What I cannot allow is blatant soliciting for money as eventually everyone will be here doing what you have done. So please, no begging but story sharing is fine.
  4. I am at a loss for words. I haven't been around in quite some time. There is a never ending pit in my stomach now. We used to talk on the phone daily. My fault for not coming around as much anymore.
  5. Boy has this site changed!

I miss you! Guess where I live now!

  6. My significant other just happens to be my total opposite so it works wonders. We worked opposite shifts, i'm a paramedic, he's a basic so we've had our disagreements...all in all I think it's the person, not specifically the profession.
  7. I went to my local job works office who granted me money for books, uniforms, and fuel for my car. Something to look into if you ask me.
  8. I am a firm believer in pain management for kidney issues, probably due to me being one of the lucky folks who has this. But I am also a firm believer now in thorough assessment and testing! I have hx of stones and went to the ER 04/04 for what I thought to be another stone, they didn't do anything for me due to me having hx and they took my word for this. I got an rx for pain meds and told to drink lots of fluids. Now here it is 2 months later, and after extensive testing with a nephrologist I've been diagnosed with RTA (renal tubular acidosis), i am still in horrid pain, and nothings working. Now with all that said, I love Torodal for kidney pain, seems to work immediately for me and I don't get that goofy headrush from narcotics.
  9. Just don't forget that some young girls do get date raped, and in their minds they still never had sex (due to the fact they weren't consenting to what they did get). I know that's not the majority, but just keep that in mind also.
  10. This will certainly be going a smidge off topic, but honestly how did you handle yourself with a pregnant drunk woman? Whatever medical people say about drinking and pregnancy i'm a zero tolerance kinda gal, and am opinionated about it. I'm not sure I would've dealt with her appropriately.
  11. Yay Eric!!! Way to go man!!! Amber is one lucky chick!!! I loved being married, just not to my husband LOL Dwayne is right and I loved his post!
  12. I agree, just go straight to nursing school. In my area if you've failed school you're less apt to be able to recieve any aid for that same course. Join the military, they have awesome benefits for school.
  13. I agree with the whole tone of voice and choice of wording when dealing with someone unstable. I have seen too many times the paramedic/emt trying to bully the psych into doing what they want them to, and of course it doesn't work. Again all my assualts have been from people that have been out of their minds, not knowing what they were doing at all. I had a diabetic headbutting the side window of the van he was riding in, and then the cot when he was laying on it, so when i got close (even though police were holding him down for me) to access his port, of course I got headbutted. Not his fault, totally mine. I wasn't focused on safety, rather on helping him.
  14. I agree, I haven't been "attacked" per say, but I have been bitten, hit, kicked, etc. Same goes for me also, all of mine have been headbleeds, overdoses, diabetics, etc. I will admit I have yet to have a violent psych patient.

    WTF????

Maybe I could sell some of Betsy Lou's shit on ebay and make 2 grand!
  16. My friends joke because i'd rather stay up all night, and can't get a tan even from a bottle! I'm glow in the dark!
  17. I worked nights, the boyfriend works days. He's sleeping when i'm working, and vice versa. It's honestly not that hard on a relationship, not mine anyhow. I would make him stay up late, and he's make me stay up...well late for me in the mornings to spend time together. I go to a friends house or do quiet activities in the middle of my nights off, and he'd go do something out of the house on his days off. He huffed and puffed about it ONE time and that's all it took for him to understand that I hate the morning, I HATE waking up in the morning, and i'm a vampire.....
  18. I agree with Asys, why are you still working there if you were raped while at work? Sexual assualt = rape in my book, and shouldn't be tolerated. It happened to me (not at work, but in high school) about 10 years ago and I have a child from it. It never goes away (for me anyhow). I've done counseling and all, and use my story to educate others. I guess doing that (and raising a child) are my ways of turning something horrid/negative into something positive that others can benefit from. I agree, it is hard to just open up and discuss this stuff right away (it took me about 10 months to tell anyone). And when you go to see the psychologist/psychiatrist you're going to relive it a few times which also sucks. In the long run it'll make you feel better.
  19. One thing I could never understand about this CPAT (and please forgive me, I am not part of a fire department, nor do i ever in my lifetime have any intrest in it) is the fact that volunteers here, and some paid departments around this area don't require you take this test. These firefighters can do it for a fulltime career for 10+ years, and when they go to take this test for maybe a move to another department they can't pass it. So why is it they've done the job for so long, and done it well, worked out (all the ones I know that have failed are required to do some PT as part of being on the department), and all that other good stuff, yet still can't pass?
  20. When someone sees something so horrid that they can no longer work or be a part of society, becoming disabled, I don't think it's fair to call them "crazy".
  21. Private schools are def the way to go with your little "snowflakes"! Mine goes and she doesn't have to worry about watching trash like that or being kicked out for praying before she eats lunch. Anyhow, I have noticed more in coworkers than in patient's the freaking out thinking they have all of these and beyond. One nurse will cough and everyone working with her will look over, move away, etc. Very strange, yet entertaining at the same time.
  22. I was thinking the same as Spenac, the fact is, if they are sitting there arguing about who's taking them in, and wasting time, apparently they don't need an ambulance in the first place. A person with a broken arm can go in POV, and if it was me I'd sign Carlos's refusal form and have a neighbor drive me in.
  23. I was the only night shift female paramedic, so if a call came out that sounded "female issue" I HAD to be the medic, if it didn't and turned out to be a lady problem typically I was requested. Patient's did have their favorites and would request, but since it was hospital based typicallty they'd see their super medic inside the ER.
  24. I would say, if this happens to tell someone on scene so they can take over, while you take a few deep breaths. That way no one is being treated half assed due to a cloudy mind. I think we've all been there. Heck the first time I almost didn't make it was watching child birth. I froze, got hot, thought about barfing, and still would rather never see/assist with it again!
