New protocols take effect tomorrow. I am incredibly fortunate to work in a progressive system with a supportive medical director who is working to empower those of us on the streets.

Working on keeping a chin up about school and trying to stay focused on it. I just keep telling myself, only a few more semesters...

Gonna be serving as acting lieutenant for the first time this weekend, working with a part-timer. This should be interesting!

Had an open radius fracture last night. Weird thing was, the fracture was proximal to the wrist but it was the actual radial head that was protruding and it looked to be mostly intact; just got separated from the carpals.

God, I really hate our button up shirts. They're hot, uncomfortable, and along with all of the ridiculous brass they make us look like wannabe paramilitary tools. To top it all off, admin won't even let us have polo shirts for the days when it's unbearably hot.

Having some slight friction with my partner lately. He likes to run things a little too fast at times, and I think at times he might under-triage/advocate me under-triaging certain folks. certain folks. Hmm...

So much women drama going on lately. Damn, ladies, I know you can't get enough of the Bieb, but y'all be crazy. Fo' sho'.

Should be finding out if I got full time or not this week. I know I keep saying it, but I WILL start posting around here more.

Also, on another note, I haven't used a sling and swath since paramedic school, and it showed last night!

It constantly amazes me how stuck in their mindset some of the people around here are. We have definitely been spoiled by having dual paramedic units, to the point that the notion of a new paramedic working with an EMT seems unfathomable. Isn't that how most of the country is? I'll have to do some homework...

Heat exposure, MVC rollover, and choking turned a-fib tuned sinus tach with PACs. Good night!

In a venting kind of mood.

I need to reignite the fire inside of me.

Agreed. And posting scenarios is a great way to begin!
It's hard to stay motivated when you don't have a lot of shifts and aren't running a bunch of calls. You need those challenging calls to remind you of why you worked so hard to get your medic ticket, why you need to stay sharp.
You're on the right track though! Just keep moving forward a little bit every day....
