  1. Ok they should have explained to the average person what an OPA is. And if the pilot is a basic emt she should have known how to place it. Also if she didn't like blood, guts, goey stuff coming from orifices or other types of things you may see with trauma she not only shouldn't have become an EMT but definatly a flight EMT pilot, they get the worst. The one thing I love about this show is my roomate is starting to see some of the things I love about my job. I loved how Nancy dealt with the frequent flyer druggy. I will probably use that one sometime.
  2. As an EMT I see where you are coming from but you realize they have to keep the show interesting to the layperson. I know for a fact there are EMTs who have been like nancy and her boyfriend, it detests me but it happens, I only hope they get caught and lose their license. What bothered me more is the way the flight crew and copter were portrayed. We know the crew is the crew and not some medic they take along for the ride and the copter is set up so there is no room to move. Several things were portrayed in ways we would never do things but at the end of the day it does show our dedication and neccesity to do our job. It also shows people we have feelings, we're not just cold people who carry out our lives not caring if someone dies or not.
  3. I injured my shoulder on the job 5 months ago. I am ready to return to work but I have been informed I must lift 125 lbs before I can return to work. I was sent by my physician to a Functional Capacity Evaluation testing center in OKC. This test did not come out so good for me. The problem is they had me lift as much as I could 4 times without stoppping. but the object I lifted was a box approximatly 16 inchs long, 16 inches wide and 18 inches tall. This test does not accuratly measure what we as EMTs lift. I am strickly an EMT, not fire, so I only lift cots and people, mostly cots. Workers Comp wants to give me an accurate test but I need to find a testing center that test a person lifting a cot with the weight distributed across the cot. I know AMR does these test because I tested with them a couple of years back, but the closest one I know of is in Wichita Falls, TX. Does anyone know of a place in Oklahoma that does such a test. If you do you can contact me at lularjbohenry@yahoo.com or within this topic.
