  1. I assume everyone or almost everyone here is EMS in some way, if you drive drunk you are breaking the law BOTTOM LINE. You knew the risk when you got behind the wheel, and drove anyway. Police don't have enough tools to work with as it is, without worrying about getting sued by everybody. I say give them any tool they need to protect and serve. That law is stupid. What else is stupid is that most states have laws that say that state police or any police must be able to be seen in plain site to be able to pull someone over who is driving over the speed limit! Hwo can you see them anyway flying by at 120mph. How can these people do their jobs when the law prevents them from doing so.

We as EMS have many rules that make our jobs harder. Look at it through their eyes. I know I have had calls to a few MVAs where children were killed because of drunk drivers. Its not fair to people who abide by the law. I am surpised at some of the responses here, some must not be EMS. Just my opinion

Advertising a DUI checkpoint!? Why don't they just post a sign that says "Wait till next weekend to go out so we can twice as many on the roads"? Or "Take the road less traveled but three times as long"? That's just stupid. I've always hated the fact that entrapment is perfectly legal here(or I've seen some cops breaking the law), but now I'm really glad. Yeah, it's bs to park on a sidewalk with no lights to clock me going 5 over, but at least you'll get the drunks!
  2. Congrats on the 90, see you were worried about nothing, remember that on your final. Lone Star gave the best advice, you should print that and read it before each test.. good advice Lone Star... 5 STARS!!!!

Well thanks for all the advise guys! I ended up getting a 90! I'm also doing very well in our lab. I have put alot of effort into this course and I really enjoy EMS. I can not wait to get into the field!
  3. Usually midterm exams are cumlative as to what was taught to you so far in the course, I would ask you instructor if it is cumlative or just what you have learned since your last test. I live in Louisiana and we have the toughest EMS classes in the country. We had many people in our class from other states as far as Alsaska. Ours was cumlative. I know that some states do not require that method of testing. Best thing is to ask your instructor or another student who has already taken the class. That should give you a better idea of what to expect from the test. Don't let your nerves get the best of you, just do the best you can. GOOD LUCK, Kevin

Perhaps if you could share what the test will cover, we could assist you better?
  4. Look in the download section of this site i just posted a couple of PDF files that will help you on certain topics like airway and breathing and soft tissue injuries. I hope they help

Hey guys my name is Derek and I've been taking my EMT b course for about a month now.

I've been lurking these forums for a while and this seems to be the most active board on the forums.

My first "mid-term" test is coming up in my class and I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips. Ive been putting a decent amount of time into the readings and labs. I feel pretty comfortable with the information but I am not the best tester. I have gotten above a 7 on all of the quizzes, but tend to get anxious on large tests.

I'm located in Rhode Island right now and the protocol can get confusing when used with the book. I've been trying to put off any protocol reading until the class is over as alot of the numbers are different. We are told the tests come straight from the book. post-23144-1245956188_thumb.png

    Thanks ahead for any tips.

  5. These study guides are great, I made them while taking the EMT-B class, My instructors use them in class now. they are a consendsed version of the text book Emergency Care 11th edition. They are easy to read and everything in them is on the NREMT-B wrten test....Look for them posted by me in the download section.

Thanks and I hope I helped someone, Kevin

  6. Hello My name is Kevin McLendon, I finished the EMT-b course in may. I have already went to registry and screwed up on Long Bone (forgot to take the second pulse, motor sensory)and have to retest on that one on the 14th of july. I am looking forward to working in the field.

I live about 40 miles outside of New Orleans, and have been hired already with a local ambulance service pending my retest.

Also I have some really great study guides I made before taking my written test and I passed with 100%. I plan to share them in the download section after going through them and looking for mispellings and mistakes. They are in word format. I hope this helps anyone about to take the writen test. These guides are almost the whole book re-writen but in a realistic study format complete with tables and some pictures. They are very complete and if you study them you are sure to pass the exam.
