  1. Thanks for the response. Hopefully I can find something out there eventually. I received a phone call last night from Acadian ambulance service that covers most of Louisiana and parts of texas, to come in for an interview monday. I mentioned that I am trying to get out of new orleans, and they mentioned that they were in need of basics in Baton Rouge. Only a couple hours away, but a definite improvement in living. Its probably in my best interest to get at least a year experience on the truck before I attempt to move off anywhere. Again, thank you for the input and response. =)
  2. Well, I logged on to NREMT.org today and found out that I passed the NR the first try so i'm a bit excited. Now that this is out of the way, I'm looking for a new city to move to and would like to check out San Diego. Though if you have any ideas of cities that are in "desperate" (as in very strong chance of being able to find work) need of EMT-B, please feel free to drop me a post with a suggestion. My question is, does anyone know how much the california EMT-B state exam costs, and will I only have to take a short refresher course, if any class at all, before I can take this state exam? I'm 26 years old, single, no children and while EMT-B's don't make a whole lot of money, its a lot of money compared to what i'm used to. I'm very excited to finally start my career in emergency medicine. I'm desperately trying to move out of new orleans. Any and all comments are greatly appreciated... Thank you for your help and advice in advance.
  3. First off, if this was covered already, I apologize for reposting. I have searched through a lot of the posts the last few days and haven't found what I am looking for. I'm researching branches of the military and various jobs within these branches, but cannot seem to find specific civilian jobs I would be qualified for upon leaving the service. How many military background Flight Medics went Airforce vs Army? Any thoughts of what military training would be more beneficial to a long term EMS career? Again I apologize if this has been covered, I just can't seem to find it ><

    Hello

Hello. I am currently in EMT-B school and will be ready for national registry at the end of may. I am young (25), and single (no children) and could really use a change of scenery. While a lot of the posts I have read mention they are cutting back on budgets and have a hiring freeze (NYC), I was wondering where the EMS profession is thriving. I am quite sick of New Orleans. Thanks in advance
