  1. HI....It is that time, time to re-cert. I decided not to do CBT and am almost done with my CE. I am taking the course the next 3 days and have done all internet CE. But am confused about the acual paper application. Am I supposed to get my med director to sign it? It says that but I really dont even know who our med director is....HELP
  2. 1--I love my job. Cant see me doing it forever, max 5 yrs, but i love it. However my first passion is nursing, L and D nursing to be exact. I 2--I never said i didnt want to be a part of this profession. I am simply doing this to better myself. This is a bucnh o fuckin whiners
  3. Again, done discussing it. Yall are all pissy cause the rookie makes more than you, get over it
  4. well I am done discussing my salary. Could we get back to the original post by any chance? Noy sure why everyone is interested in judging me, look at your own lives
  5. with my occasional overtime, I make over 50k. My car is paid for, I have an apartment, no kids....this is PLENTY of money.
  6. how much i make is none of your business. And you are just another grouch pissed off b/c you are stuck doing this for the rest of your life and you see me advancing and that makes you mad at your life. Take it out on someone else.
  7. After note: I am currently in school. I am waiting for the nursing program to start, so I am getting a second degree in Spanish. My job is the perfect job for school. My classes are online, I take my books and laptop to work and do my school work in our downtime. I have a flexible schedule and too much off time, I get bored, which is why I want a part time. NO one here is living check to check, Dont assume my finances when you have no idea.
  8. letmesleep: I was in school for nursing and had finished my pre-reqs and needed a break, so I went to EMT school. Now I am ready to finish my education. However, to assume I make a little over minimum wage it wrong. Actually, I make REALLY good money. I have no kids, live in an apartment, have plenty of money for my bills and plenty left over. However, when i enter nursing school, I plan to quit work to focus on school. So I am saving so my apartment will be prepaid and I wont have to work. And you assuming that we boss everyone around is being ignorant. You have no idea what goes on in GA. And I was simply breaking down the different levels and what each one can do here, different levels do different things in different states. And as far as the medic class....I have NO interest in being a medic. Obviously you are satisfied doing that, however, I am shooting for something a little further up the food chain. Being an EMT is just a stepping stone, its purpose was to experience new things. Why not?
  9. To clear all of this up, GA DOES recognize basics, and they can work on an ambulance, NET or 911....EMT-B can do O2, bandages...thats about it....NO ivs.......EMT-I can do D50, EPI, IVS, NITRO, ASA, O2.....EMT-I is the most common level besides Paramedic in GA. To say we are the most insignificant level is ignorant. Obviously people who are posting are assuming they know what we do. And I learned how to make a resume in high school, and in college. I HAVE a resume. Was just tossing the post out there to get ideas from more experienced people on the job descrip for an EMT. So I am not sure where the humor is. EMTs who have over 3 yrs experience are always whining b/c they think us rookies don't want to learn anything from them. Well here is one rookie who is willing to learn anything anyone wants to teach me, and by asking for help with the job descrip on my resume I get blasted.
  10. Thanks. Its just that I have never had to before.
  11. I have been working at my first EMS job for a little over 7 mths now and am trying to get a part-time job. (I work nights and it really sucks on my off days b/c no one is up...might as well work and make money for RN school)....Anyone have any suggestions on what i should put in my job description as a EMT-I working on a 911 truck? I haven't updated my resume since I got this job and have NOOOO idea what to put for what I do. It seems kinda silly to list a job description as an EMT cause they should know what I do, we are all trained as EMT-Is to do the same thing ....Right????? PLEASE HELP the rookie!!!! lol
