  1. Thank you very much. I have a long road ahead of me and im determined thank you for your input! :-)
  2. Thank you very much this a great site and the motivation i get form you all here is awesome. Very true what you said about a pt is a pt. I know what i need work on and i shall continue to work on my weak points as a student. And stay open minded you can never learn it all right? thanks a bunch!
  3. Thanks everyone for the advice I'm always open to suggestions ill will take the advice you gave me as for you crotchitymedic1986 im not insulted but thanks for the advice. As weird as it may sound yes those were the three things that were brought up during my meeting with the supervisor. I was nervous with some of the calls but i did map correctly at times lol we were first on scene to a full arrest and i had the first pt contact so as far as failing to respond i think not. I think it was i responded poorly. And not up to there standards. which is fine i can take constructive criticism it will only help me help others better. thanks again though for the input
  4. Hey everyone so I'm pretty much still a new EMT i was working for a IFT company for about four months and decided to go to a 911 company. The companies were day and night compared to each other which was fine and awesome i got some great experience but i have some things to work on. Mapping being a major one my assessments were shaky and documentation ( i would forget to check of lil things like male of years for the age) so they let me go but i am eligible for rehire in six months what should i do? i returned back to the IFT company and planed on working on my weak points someone also recommended that i go to a 911 company that runs code 2 so that its not as fast pace and i could have a lil more time to absorb all the information. Also a side note about the mapping it sucks and im not trying to make excuses but im dyslexic i say right when i mean left i say north when i mean south that with the combination of my heart beating 120bpm cause my FTOS are asking me where are we going someone is dying!? It caused me to be shaky with the map book . and i thank them for putting me under that presser because it was the experience i was looking for so im sorry for writing my life story but what recommendations could you give a new guy? Cliffs- new guy needs work on -mapping -assessments -documentation -I'm dyslexic -Should i practice my weak points at a IFT or Code 2 company?
  5. Well i have read your posts and i appreciate your recommendations. To answer your question it did teach me something. In class we only read about stair chairs, stretchers, lifting techniques, taking vitals and so on but its much different reading about it compared to doing it. We helped moved a 75 y.o pt up a flight of about 20 steeps small stairs. i learned how to move patients without hurting my back. A the beginning of the day i had no clue how to bring the stretcher up or down by the end of the day i had a good grasp on it. I understand what your saying but i think the experience for a newbie is pretty good for the time being. If i get the chance to go work for a 911 privet later on cool! by then ill have a good ideal on how to take vitals and all the other little things that make a good EMT a good EMT. THANKS!
  6. My ride along went great just to update you guys lol!
  7. Awesome Advice from everyone thank you i truly appreciate it. I will take into consideration all your recommendations and if i were to get this job i will take it serious. I'm sure there's only so much you can learn like some mentioned but its a start! :-) and much better than sitting here doing nothing lol. ill use it as a tool for a bigger goal. Thank you all again !
  8. I hope this is the right place to post this sorry if its not. So I just passed my national for EMT-B back in June and i was looking around for where i could apply. While looking around i found a small private Ambulance company no more than 5 min form my home. They only do Mostly IFT transports but i feel it will be a good way to get my feet wet. I spoke with the person in charge on Friday and was schedule For my ride along on Tuesday. Long story short i hope this will open up doors for me and i wanted to ask you all for any recommendations? or feed back. Thanks for reading
