I once picked up a man with bilat lacs on his neck, 11 puncture wounds to his chest and one puncture wound to the adb. He walked out of the woods. Screw the badge. This job is hard enough with out looking even more like an officer. Its bad enough walking around in a uniform with patches on both sleves without having a nice shiney badge to go with it. This was said to me in my last class stupid yes i know but it makes sence. "You never know when violence is going to erupt so try not to wear your uniform out of work. No matter what colors it is. Your always gonna become the target just because of the uniform." Granted i live in a small town and look nothing like the LEO's in the area seeing i have the white shirt, but still i dont go gallyvanting around in my uniform if i dont have to. We do this all the time around here. Big companies like AMR come into the class room and tell everyone how great their company is and the educational advancement's you could get there. blah blah blah But yes i say have someone with a good head on their shoulder's and knows what their talking about do the recruiting. Out here it really depends on which hospital your going to. All have there pet peeves. One hospital will want labs and access so we put on a well and flush, another will want a J loop for access no labs, and then the others will want no labs and a bag of NS hanging at KVO. This is the problem with going to 6-7 different hospitals. They all want something different. So its not really a personal preference.

The service I work for will help replace the suplies you may use onscene. Seeing we get to bill for what was used we dont see a major problem with it. Most of the time its ice packs and some 4x4's. Plus these people are either on our dept or the FD, which we also help supply when needed.

WOW ummm i don't know what to tell you. All i can think of is that if your new then this could just be your "psychological" reaction. Almost like psychogenic shock.

Yes i would stay. When i first started in EMS it was just for the knowledge. I took the state test and did nothing with the cert for acouple of months. But then i joined the Volunteer Fire Dept as a first responder. Thats when i found out what EMS was really about. I finaly started riding with the local ambulance about 6 months later, ive been here ever sence.

Well for me it comes in waves. There has been times where i havent done a call in a month or so and then it hits the fan. My partner and i wernt allowed to work together after the last incident. We lost 3 people in 1 day. Now that was a bad day. but hell after that it all calmed down. Now im waiting for the the rush to hit. I can feel it coming soon its been way to quiet.

When your fire department decides these hats are better than helmets. When its not a party until someone gets naked. Taking pic's of your buddies and forgetting your truck has a FD plate. Good ol back woods fire departments. Yee Haw! Now thats what i call a cow boy.

Im not really one to talk but around here my inline 6 is great on the hills. and yes its a Jeep so i can get just about anywhere a quad can. hehe and i can carry more.

Our dept uses paper. We go to one hospital that has a computer so we can do it on there but we have some problems with that. Not just the obvious like it not saving and then u have to do it over again and then just write it out anyway. But these are some big ones. They automaticaly put our names and emt #'s in there. we dont sign them. huh no signiture not legal. if you need the doc's signiture for meds they have to sign all 3 of the papers not just the one with the carbon copys. HAHA trying to get a doc to sign one paper is hard enough but 3 c'mon. But heres the kicker if we sign the sheets then we altered the document. same goes for the doc's signiture. so once again its not a legal document. this had been brought up to OEMS and they tell us if we dont want to use it then dont but they cant take responsibility for it if we do use it and it goes to court. So with my experence with it I stay with paper PCR's

Cant choose any of those but for me i would go with Baystate Medical Center here in mass its the closest from here and if i had to pic another i would go with Boston or UMass medical

I know when to follow them and when there just too damn retarded for the situation and nothing really fits so you go by what ya know. I dont go above and beyond my scope of practice. Thats just not right. The most ive done is get and IV preped for my partner while she was intubating. But ya know there was no access. I did have it going through my head that i could of done it if there was access. But there wasnt so i didnt and neither did she. So yes i have thought about it but never have done it.
