  1. mr. dustdevil or whoever you are, may i be so kind as to give you a friendly piece of advice, i have always found that it's not good to be so quick to point out other peoples faults, because usually when you do you wind up making a big A$$ out yourself!!!! so what if my punctuation or spelling, thats not what my previous post was about , but hopefully wherever it is that you are from, will be able to teach you how to type out a sentence without putting words in it that dose not belong, because it really makes you look stupid!!!!!!! yes why would you want to take the NR? are they the only ones that know how to give a test? the answer to that would be NO. what does testing prove anyway? that you are good test taker? or that you know whats in the books? i have worked with medics that knew the books inside and out , but could not stick there finger up there butt when they had to go on a call, i had rather work with someone that has the street skills. than someone that has book knowledge, so to finish up here i may not have the best grammer or punctuation skills but i do know how to take care of my patient's :headbang: :pottytrain2:
  2. oh and i forgot .congrats to michael for a job well done. :salute:
  3. in tennessee when you take either emt or paramedic course. your state exam is the national registry. from personal experience i think that the national registry is a joke!!! and that the people that are running it don,t have the fogiest idea what they are doing, as the old saying the blind leading the blind, i once was a national registered paramedic and when it came time to renew . i had taken a 16 hour state coarse, acls, pals, btls, phtls, pepp, both the acls and the pals were the 16 hour courses not the refresher, i had went far beyond the c.e.u. hours required to renew my liscense, after i had sent the renewal information back in, i recieved a letter from them stating that my renewal had been rejected because they wanted me to take a 16 hr. intubation coarse that the state of tennessee does not even offer. i called them and talked to some lady there and she stated that was correct that i needed to take the coarse. i tried to explain to her that TN. does not offer that particular coarse. and that if they would bother to look on the form sent back to them . that there was more than 16 hrs. of intubation training in all the coarses that i had already taken. but they were to stupid to figure that out. needless to say i never retained my national registry, i do however have my state paramedic liscense, the state board is lloking to do away with the national registry because it is such a joke of an orginization. an d replace it with something else, :-({|= :D/
  4. for the n/v give zofran or phernegan or some other antiemetic, both can be given i.m.
  5. well here is my 2 cents worth on this subject. i have had elderly patients that have osteoporosis along with curviture of the spine. c/o neck and back pain, but due to there condition they cannot tollerate being placed on a LSB. thereforwe they are collared and placed in position of comfort i.e. rigth or left side on a pillow straped to the cot and transported, i have also had patients that were in m.v.c. that c/o neck and back pain that agree to treatment and you get them collared. and when it comes time to put them on the L.S.B. they say your not putting me on that thing i cant stand to lay flat or i am closterfobic. i have had it done to me, so now here is the delima you have a patient with c-collar on thats refusing to go on a L.S.B. who is authorized to remove the collar ? i know who is not . (YOU). once an appliance is placed on a patient . it is there untill a doc. removes it or the patient does it themselves . as far as not having enough boards.it can happen . especially in rural areas such where i am from . your truck can only carry so much.i worked a m.v.c one day with 2 children and there mother the oldest child was placed on the only pedi-pac, the mother was placed on l.s.b. with the youngest child of about 1-2 yrs of age was throwing a fit everytime we got near her, she was not about to let us put a c-collar on her.so for the risk of more possible injury to her she was secured to her mother with straps across child and mother. the child was very content being on her mothers chest and belly face up. yes there are medics and e.m.t"s that are burnt out and lazy. for them it is time to get out of the business. to call everyone stupid and lazy i take great offence to. it's called document, document, document, and refusal form . thank you for your time!
