  1. Our service is getting new ambulances that are faster and bigger. They provide more comfort to the crew and can get up and go. They are twin turbo diesels and let me tell you they get up and move. It has a computer system in it for our dispatch and the back well i can finally stand up straight. It is quite exciting to actually show up on scene in something that you don't have to worry if it will still be running when you come back out.
  2. No more paperwork on paper. We are switching to tough books and will no longer have to worry about our current form of PCRs. We are currently using touch screen computers that have an air card and are junk. They freeze up, shut down, and half the time the air card does not eve work. Hopefully these tough books will be much better and make one area of the job less stressful
  3. Our service recently switched to new IV catheters that are more in depth than just your typical IV catheter. I cannot stand these new catheters. They are a single lumen double port. The only benefit that I can find on these new catheters is that you don't have to worry about blood because of the lumen and ports being attached. However threading is next to impossible. They are so flimsy that when you try and thread them they seem to bend or not go at all and I end up going right through the vein. My IV success rate has dropped and for what. The company is saving 20 cents but patients are having to be stuck more. Now tell me is that patient care. No its not because its all about money today.
