  1. If these bands or anything else is in the way or compromising to patient care it gets removed by any means necessary. However the key here is compromising to patient care. If I need to start an IV they need to go.

I agree tsk.....sorry gotta go...go buy 50 more when you get Discharged..... :D

  2. No, I am not actually sure that he can really take one. Do you think you could pass EMT school by faking it? He wants to start paramedic school in the fall. Scary!

P.S. Don this is in MD not in PA, and alot of the EMT's at this company only provide and do not drive.

oh ok, my company is like that....

  3. I don't know about your location, but here each provider has a license and the same level of training, which means you are equally responsible for the info contained in that report. Thus, each of you is supposed to sign each report.

As providers, you are both responsible for patient care. Now in the case of long time partners, you KNOW the other person and trust their skills. As an officer, in my agency, I am responsible for writing the report. I sign my name but print my partner's. I was told by our system folks this is acceptable. If there is an unusual call or want to clarify important details, I have my partner look over the report to add anything he feels is appropriate before I finish it. My partner is an excellent medic, has excellent skills and I trust his judgment 100%. If he says something, I believe it. I've known him for years, and he's been in this business almost as long as I have.

When I work with someone new, one of the first things I ask is if they want to see the report before they sign it or are they OK with me printing their name. Some do, although I have a reputation of being a stickler for details and my patient reports are very thorough.

As far as court cases go, I've never been a defendant, but have testified and done depositions dozens of times as a witness. The lawyers always want to know who wrote the report, and usually are the ones who need to testify, although sometimes, one partner recalls or sees something different at the scene than the other, so both testimonies are needed. Obviously, if you are being accused of something and patient care and/or treatment is in question, both providers need to testify.

Huh? How can you work on an ambulance without a license/certification?

Some Ambulance services in PA you don't need a DL to work there....trust me

No he is definitely not pulling my leg. This is not the first incompetent behavior i have seen from him. He is literally dumber then a bag of hammers. The next patient, I made him take a BP, he whined and complained about it the whole ride home, said he didn't have a stethescope, didn't feel like getting all the stuff out for a 5 minute ride, every excuse in the book. He can't lift a stretcher properly either, and almost caused me to drop a patient, and i did throw my back out a bit.

I don't have to sign any paperwork. I have nothing to do with any patient paperwork as long as I am "just the driver".

Are you sure he knows how to take a BP????????

  4. That's only 1/10th of the units for that EMS region, and all of them were off duty. There will always be ppl off duty, and reserve units.

exactly!! thank you! We have so many EMS companies in this region its unreal....

  5. It calculates error to determine if the image is created or real. Anyhoo.. Great companies? Stat? Pfffttttt

Uh ok.......I was being nice, I can't stand SPLAT Medevac or UPMC.....I am a huge Life Flight supporter and there affiliation health chain WPAHS.....

  6. That was taken at Pittsburgh International Airport, I know someone that was in it, the two choppers are competitors, but are great companies.

I don't understand what that link was that FM65 posted, turns the picture a funky color....

  8. <!--QuoteBegin-EMTDON970+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (EMTDON970)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I agree hellsbells, thats all BS, there are days I run 6 calls (emergencies and transports) and days I don't turn a wheel, so the Q,S,B and cloud stuff is garbage, I wish I had more emergencies honestly. This town is DEAD,, oops another bad word......lol <img src="http://www.emtcity.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Your next ten calls will be 300+ lb cardiac arrests..

Didn't work........I get a hefty one over 300 lbs once a week, but not arresting.....my company has 3 bariatric stretchers...

Every time I leave the ER, I taint their souls by saying "hope you have a slow, quiet, evening". :devilish:

My old trick is if we transport a patient out the ED I always tell them "you know the rule, 1 patient out and 3 patients come in".........out of the 10 or so times I've said this, it has worked about half the time....they have no sense of humor....

That is one of my own special "jinx" tricks....

  9. "77 Percent of new EMS Trainees are Fat Arses!"

I resemble that comment, oh sorry I am an OLD FAT ARES" :dribble::thumbsup:

I'm not new but I'm a fat butt!! 8 years of EMS made me fat!!!!!

Useless fat bastards get on a treadmill and put down the Whopper!

HEY!! I like them!!!! treadmill?? what is that?? hahahahaha

  10. I don't think GPS is the best also, a Pittsbugh paramedic was showing me a call address and the "cross streets" on the MDT map they have last saturday which is based off of GPS, the address he was given was actually 2 blocks from where the"blip" on the map showed it and the one cross street was 5 miles away! It was nowhere near the street! The good thing is this was his district and he knew where to go, I made the comment to pull out the good ole map book!

This is not the first time this has happened to the city. We have had trucks get lost at work taking patients to and from places because the GPS was way off.

I'll use good ole Rand McNally anyday!

  11. Another thing that pisses me off, American Flag boxers. That's just wrong. Wear the flag with respect, on a uniform. The flag was meant to be flown, not worn as designer clothing. You wouldn't wipe your ass with the flag, would you? It shouldn't have skid marks on it from scratching your backside either.

Maybe if half of California wasn't Mexican this wouldn't be an issue......still messed up that this happened.
