  1. paramedicmike; I'm not going to respond to your thread. You're entitled to do what you did. That being said; "Um'" not a word. We all can pick at the littlest thing. However, thank you for telling us EMS means Emergency Medical Services. I never said it didn't; I used the proper abbreviation. Did I? Lastly, thank you. All the best. However, your right with what you posted... However, you're right with what you posted... However, you're right with what you posted...

  2. As most of the frequent flyers around here I have a very long military family history, for that matter my last years post concerning the most holy of days 11 day/11 month/11 hour was a message to my children. It's the Military, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It's the Military, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It's the Military, not the politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty or freedom to practice any religion of our choosing. It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag. This year I received a story that I would like to share from a friend who served as a Physicians Assistant in Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years this is what she replied to my email in red above and red for good reason. Within minutes of receiving PA CAF email and now feeling very, very angry and crushed that some one would even say this to a Veteran, thinking to myself IS that this attitude taught in the schools ? I believe in Karma next click of "send receive" my little sister an ex RCMP sent me this story do I have to say I forwared this story to my friend and now all friends of EMT City. http://www.snopes.com/glurge/nodesks.asp TRUE.

  3. The problem with a place that has overtime "always available" is that the temptation to throw you in there the first week will be overwhelming. You're much less likely to get a comprehensive orientation if you're working the truck the same day you get hired (ironically, to cut down on OT costs). As a new EMT, you need that orientation (especially the driving component, since that's not generally covered in EMT classes). Most "good" companies will be fully staffed with little overtime. The companies with lots of OT have high turnover rates, and increased stress on the remaining staff. If you really want that extra time, you'd be better off finding a regular FT job and PRN somewhere else. Not only will that give you more control over your hours, you'll be able to compare two services and figure out best practices. Good luck with class! Prmedc

  4. Beiber.. OmG!!! You believe what I believe..... Plz see my thread regarding EMT Restructuring and check the EMS Protocol Change thread too.... My idea is a bit aggressive but see how some see it & most insult me on the thread... Its awesome to see how EMS has really regress...... Sorry to be off topic..... I would love to see EMS become a recognized profession by layppl... I want the Paramedic Profession to seperate itself from other EMT certs and become a degree only and advance degrees in discussion... Happy New Year!!!
