  1. Since the test is today there is not really much time to learn. The main thing is do what you can to have the confidence. You have passed your classed, you have read your booked, you have studied the material, etc. You are ready. Take the test and either way it doesn't end here, thus this is basically just the start. Good Luck PS If You are missing questions in the REA book, understand why, don't memorize the answer.

  2. I'm interested in enrolling in a BSEMS program in a year or so. After some searching, I decided that Creighton University in Omaha would be the best choice, since it's closest to where I live. I plan on going down to visit in a couple of weeks. But during my search, I found that institutions such as the University of Texas and the University of Utah require their applicants have their EMT-P certification at the time of enrollment into the BSEMS program. Prerequisite college coursework is also a requirement in some cases. Creighton's program is like a traditional four year program, which is the type I'm interested in. Are their any other institutions in the country that offer the same type of program as Creighton?

  3. I am a bit confused to the exact issue here. Please be more detailed. Besides what do you hope to gain from this forum if the EMS board has already reviewed the case?

  4. I agree. DO NOT read into the questions. Do no assume anything. If the question does not give you info, don't factor that into your answer. Get plenty of rest. Relax! Enjoy a nice breakfast in the morning. A coffee and donut will not suffice. Good luck.

  7. This one was a little too close to home... Personally having an allergy to insect stings, I'm not sure what would have happened if I had been responding to this incident... Sounds like a worse-than-normal, but still managable trauma call... Until you hear this part: An estimated 700 hives per truck, with around 30,000 bees per hive, there were approximately 17 Million bees on one of the trucks that was involved in the crash. Darren Straus, part owner of the company, Bauer Honey, said they lost about 150 colonies in the accident, which will cost about $45,000... But, Straus is more concerned with the victims of the crash. Well, what about being concerned with the EMS crews and Fire crews that were called for the scene? One of the first on scene was stung by bees A second semi carrying bees for the same company, not involved in the accident, pulled over at the scene to assist... Lt. Eric Roeske (MN State Patrol) said the drivers transporting the bees had some extra suits that the paramedics were able to put on. Otherwise, with thousands of bees swarming, pouring out of the back of a semi, which is carrying millions of bees, EMS tries to reach the crash victims... Firefighters tried to keep the bees calm and at bay, by spraying the trucks with water... Knowing personally something about bees, the heat can make them harder to handle -- and Minnesota set records for high temperature yesterday. Plus, if something happens to the queen, they are known to swarm... so if a queen died, or flew out of the colony, every bee will follow, stinging anything and everyone that gets between them and their queen. So, they see us as a threat, and our duty is to get to the victims... One victim was dead on the scene, and another required helicopter transport, but later died. As the Responder, what do you do?? 8. Meh. I think the Fail! in the video is at 3:06. I don't care for the song personally and after the 3:06 section, I think it should be removed.

  11. So, when I started at my current job I became quickly unpopular because of my outspoken feelings regarding fire v EMS and the local volunteer system. Over that last year or so I've repaired many of those relationships and work great will most of them. (Though of course there are a few that will cry forever about comments made in passing, but screw em. But, based on this history I've been asked to sit in the charity dunk tank. It's a fund used to sends vollys that have shown at least a years true commitment to the community to EMTB school at the local college. I've warned my boss that this is going to cause a shit storm, as I'm unwilling to let people stand back and throw things at me for free, and he's accepted responsibility for any fallout that may come from my 'charity work.' So, what I need is volly/fire jokes/insults that will get them to spend their money to see me get dunked. None of this will be mean spirited on my part, I don't want to hurt feelings, only poke people with verbal sticks until they get mad enough to spend their money... Any help you all can give will be appreciated and help turn another first responder into another basic. Dwayne
