Hi all,

I've done a long career in teaching/military, and thinking about what to do with my spare time in 18 months once my kids leave the house. I did a ridealong and volunteering in the local EMS unit seems like it could be really rewarding. I don't want to take the EMT course quite yet - I want to spend the remaining time I can with my kids while they're still around - but I've found a great course offered where I teach that I'll take next year once empty nest arrives, and in the meantime I'd like to poke around and see what those with experience say about the career, especially as a volunteer. I'm a bit concerned that as a 50 yo volunteer I'll never gain the patient volume to have the experience that would make me a great provider, but my local unit has some experienced people to help me along the way.

	Hey folks!

I am hailing from the Midwest. I have been working fire/ems since 2007. Most of that time has been a paramedic. I have a ton of merit badges and a small retirement fund to show for years of service.

After injuries and a ton of PTSD, it's time for me to start branching out from the truck. I am returning to school. While in school, I'll still be working PRN on the bus and am starting to blog, app develop, and attempting to get in the lecture circuit.

I'm a high school student in NC, and working on an associates degree before I graduate high school. I have been interested in EMS since the beginning of my freshman year. I'm working with the explorers program at a station near me and was able to do a ride with paramedics. This is definitely the career I would like. Anyone have any advice for a student wanting to go into EMS?

So, I am now in EMT class, again. I took it once before many years ago and really enjoyed it. However I was never able to work EMS. At the time I took the class, I was also in backgrounds for the Sheriffs Dept in my home county. So when I was hired as a Deputy, I was asked to let my EMT certification expire, as they did not want any liability and did not want to provide me with any materials.

I left law enforcement for many reasons, after 5 years of service to them, considered going back, but the timing just wasnt right for me personally. I began driving a Semi truck hauling hay, and later hazmat, and hazmat took me to Los Angeles. Recently the wife and I wanted to move back closer to our families, and I was tired of driving a truck and dealing with hazwaste and bio-hazard medical research waste. So we moved up here. I worked for a short time as a propane install specialist, but left when I took my paid family leave for when my daughter was born. After that I had to get onto disability, as a hand injury I didn't take proper care of when I broke my hand, really came back and bit me. getting ready for my second surgery now. So, here I am, back in EMT school for a second time. This time to stay.

Thanks for allowing me to introduce myself. I'm a BS, RRT of 26 years. Usually work ED and ICU. Intubation, trach changing, aortic balloon pump certified as well as arterial line placement, ACLS and PALS. I probably don't have much to add, but would enjoy chatting with you folks. I've been working with EMS half my life and enjoy you people and value your help. Thanks for letting me be part of your group.

Ok, so the title is a misnomer, it's more of a 2nd bi-decade EMT City reunion.

I'm going to be putting out a couple of suggested locations, only one of the locations I'm able to coordinate and also a couple of months for the reunion. I can pick the places we meet depending on the months we decide to meet and the food but of course only if this is in Kansas City. Nashville and or Colorado springs or elsewhere needs to be coordinated by someone else.

This is simply the beginning of a discussion and there is no guarantee this will get off the ground, we already tried this one time 5 or so years ago and it flopped. So Respond back with three answers here see the end of the post for the questions:

Locations(locations not all the way to the coast and one smack in the middle of the country)

	1. Kansas City MO (this is the location I can coordinate)

	2. Nashville, TN

	3. Colorado Springs, CO

Dates: (I'm out for June too much crap for work)

	February 2018

	April 2018

	July 2018

	Questions to answer

	1. Could you make it to a reunion and are you interested in something like this?

	2. Which of the three cities is more preferable to you.

	3. Which month is more palatable?

Answer these three questions - I will keep this post open for a month or so to gauge interest. And then if enough interest is there then we can move on to step 2 - which is pick the city and the date and begin determining the cost.

Hi from Colorado! I'm an NREMT certified EMT-Basic with a Kansas & Colorado license. I graduated from Paramedic school in Kansas December 2015. Passed my psychomotor skills exam the middle of December 2015. Unfortunately after attempting the NREMT written 6 times I let test anxiety get the best of me and wasn't successful. I'm currently a practicing EMT in Colorado with recent IV certification. I understand that Wyoming doesn't require NREMT certification to get licensure as a paramedic. I know a co-worker that lives in Colorado and works as an EMT in Colorado but is licensed and works as a paramedic in Wyoming. My question is this: Is it possible for me to apply for a Wyoming state license and take a Wyoming state test to practice as a paramedic in Wyoming?

I appreciate any information you can give me.

	Thank You!

Hello EMT community. My name is Rexanne. I have just finished my EMT training and passed my NREMT. I am in hopes of networking and learning about the industry as a whole.

If I may, I would like to begin with asking a newbie question. What does the typical schedule look like for a brand unexperienced "new hire"? I realizes that each company will have there own protocol. If you will, offer a general flow of new hires. Thanks!

I also would like to move into the private sector and work for traveling companies. Does any one have any experience with international companies who hire EMT's for nature trips?

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to learning.
