  1. Mmm, I see. So don't go overboard on lifeguarding for interviews and try to answer off of precepting or other life experiences I suppose. Very helpful tips here. Well, that just about answers all my questions. Now to play the waiting game. Thanks for all the responses.
  2. I see. Thanks for all the information! I will make sure to use it well =) Does anyone know how lifeguarding looks on resume? I didn't do any lifeguarding while in university, so I'm not sure if I should re-certify and apply again. Thanks, eskabob
  3. All this talk on deer and elk are making me want to learn how to hunt.
  4. Haha, thank you for the reply BEorP. A kind Humber student actually most of my questions in the previous thread and more via PM. I just have troubles finding much on the Conestoga program, so wanted the opinion of those who are familiar with it/its graduates. I have only been accepted to Centennial. The other colleges don't begin offers of admission until early March I believe. I have been told that it is very difficult to find a job in Ontario. Are top recent graduates often hired, or past graduates with some patient transfer experience? My brother tells me that I should go to Alberta to find work if I go through with the program. I would personally like to work in Ontario and am willing to work hard to achieve that. Thanks for the tips! eskabob
  5. Are those mealworms? Frogs and escargot are one thing...but mealworms just remind me of reptile food. I'm sure it's a great source of protein though.
  6. Island of Formosa. Taiwan. 1999. I was sleeping until I got shaken off the bed. It was quite the experience.
  7. 7.6 magnitude earthquake feels like shaking grounds with insanely deafening thunderclaps. Roads splitting in front of you. Church walls falling. Neighbours running to join the huddle of families on the sidewalk. I'm alive.
  8. Hello everyone, I've recently been accepted by Centennial's PCP program and am trying to find out which school I want to go to. I would like to know more about Conestoga college's PCP program. 40 seat program vs Centennial's 100 or so (not sure). I read in the archives that you should apply where you want to work in the future, but have been told that these limitations are diminishing. I was born and raised in Cambridge, so I am looking for pros and cons between the two schools. I am not interested in the UToS-Centennial Paramedicine degree since I have spent the last 4 years at Western University and will be completing the degree via distance education/part-time in the near future. I've seen lots of good things to say between Centennial and Humber colleges in the archives, and am looking for some more updated advantages/disadvantages between the two. Any other tips helpful to new students would also be very much appreciated. (i.e. where to volunteer, part-time work, summer pre-studying, during school, placement, etc.) Thanks, eskabob
  9. Hello everyone, I have been browsing the forums for a while now and decided to make an account so that I can get more specific insight and ask questions. I bolded the important information to make it easier for those skimming my post. =) Summary of me: I am currently a (21 years old) fourth-year biology student at Western University (London). Grew up highly involved in aquatics (lifeguarding experience). Am not finishing my university degree and looking to apply to paramedic programs in Ontario, Canada. Had a horrible addiction to online computer games (i.e. WoW, LoL, Aion, Starcraft 2), so did not do so hot in the majority of my university career. I am anticipating that I will be asked to be withdrawed from university by the end of this term, but hopefully not! I've always wanted to be a paramedic since high school, but of course, I had to try and satisfy my parents dreams of me becoming a doctor (<- I wonder how much money universities make off of this). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Summary of my education/marks: Highschool (university level): 81 in English, Chemistry and Biology 91 in Physics 95/85/89 in various Maths 91 in Religion Studies (was in Catholic school) University: 60's average throughout my years with multiple failures in electives and sciences. highest marks: 84 in Biology of Fungi (3rd year course), and Plants as a Human Resource (2nd) 74 in Matrix Algebra (2nd), and Ecology (2nd) Some other low 70s and rest 60/50/F ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Colleges programs applied to: Paramedic: Conestoga, Centenniel, Humber, Niagara Pre-Health: Conestoga ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ***I would like to know from your experience whether or not I have a good chance of getting in or not, and any advice to eventually get into paramedic school.*** I would prefer to go to Conestoga college. I am studying for the Humber pre-admissions test (using their recommended study guide). Does anyone know if their test is similar to the SAT/Niagara's pre-admissions test? I have asked admissions from each of the colleges I have applied to (and Durham/Fanshawe/Algonquin). Most of them did not give me clear answers or just re-sent me the copy/paste blurb of admissions requirements, and a couple replied informatively. Thank you for reading! You are helping me out very much by replying to my post, no matter how little the information you offer! THANK YOU!
