  1. I haven't been here in over a year, but this post made me come back when I read it. I never met Rob personally, but we've had plenty of side conversations while on the Forum, and he was always a great man to talk to. Even when we didn't agree on things, there was still a mutual respect. Rest in Peace brother, we'll take it from here.
  2. While I agree with the underlying message, I don't agree with its delivery. I did a paper on Truman's decision to drop the bomb in high school. If we would not have dropped the bombs, the war probably would have lasted at least another year or two, costing about 1 million American lives. The right decision was made.
  3. Not really. I've dealt with them before. Sitting on scene with the patient in their truck while I'm 15 minutes away.
  4. Screw the patient, your partner comes first. It's taught the first day in EMT and Medic class: It's you, then your partner, then the patient.
  5. The bradycardia is due to a head injury, not a cardiac problem. There is no use for Atropine here. With a pressure that low, there is also a chance of either internal bleeding or spinal shock.
  6. Seems like Boston loses out on their end of the deal. He seems like the equivalent of Leroy in Newark. What do you Beantown providers think?
  7. I would have to say no. Chances are that the bystander who felt the pulse felt their own. The reason he's in PEA is because chances are there is no blood left to go through the heart; the electrical system just hasn't realized it. However, if you have a hostile/unruly crowd, you're probably better off working it, just scooping and running. I've had to do that a couple of times in Newark due to hostile crowds and not enough po-lice.
  8. Do you already have your NY State card? If you do, then you have to take the REMAC exam; go to nycremsco.org for more info. Once you have your NYC REMAC card, you can call the number on the website.
  9. Can someone please explain to me how this thread started from a simple question about FDNY*EMS to the typical BLS vs. ALS vs. Education argument, AGAIN??!!! I've been on this site for almost 5 years now, and I'm sick and tired of seeing the same shit. Grow up, people. To the OP: Listen to Richard B; he's been at NYC*EMS longer than most of us have been alive.
  10. That looking back at all of my posts since April 2005 (and even before that), I've become an older, angrier person. It's not always pretty. That I used to be really passionate about this profession; now it's just a job, but I still take care of my patients and try to improve myself. I've learned that some of the people coming out of school now scare me. I've learned that I act more like an old-school EMSer than my age allows.
  11. All because they wanted to save less than $2/ week. Those fucking morons. They got what they deserved.
  12. Rest in peace brother; we'll take over the watch.
  13. Busiest per-capita in the nation is UMDNJ-EMS in Newark, NJ. About 130,000 jobs a year with 13 or 14 ambulances at peak.
  14. Thanks all. It was a rough week, and I needed to vent. I know I need a break off the box, but I can't do it just yet. I'm waiting to hear from another job opportunity; it tests in June and is something I've always wanted to try. I spent the weekend with the woman. We went into the mosh pit together at a Dropkick Murphys concert (Yes, I was in kilt), and got some aggression out. It helps. It helps having a support system here. Like I said, I'm going through a rough spot; however, I'm still going to treat my patients with respect and do the right thing.
